Christ's Love in Action!
UPC celebrates and thanks

- All the Salvation Army bell ringers

-Many thanks to all our wonderful members and friends who made the annual Holiday Cookie & Gift Sale a success! Sue Walden led the set-up and ordered pecans, and Nancy Lick took charge of the SERRV ordering, organizing, and displaying. We had dozens of others who contributed baked goods and handmade items, and we had lots of help at the sale itself! Nancy has calculated that we raised a net of about $1,600 - and we still have some items we hope to sell in the coming weeks. What a wonderful gift to Family Promise that also helps Serrv with its mission to lift artisans, farmers, and their families out of poverty.

- - Thank you for the ways that you are putting Christ's Love in Action!

Presbyterian Women
The 2018 Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women will be held August 2-5, 2018 in Louisville, Kentucky. 2018 is also the year that PW celebrates its 30th anniversary! That is why, each month for 30 months leading up to the Gathering, we are sending an email like this one to help you prepare, promote and plan for the Gathering (and PW's anniversary). This 19th update lands in your inbox 11 months from opening plenary (give or take a few days)! That's right-we're less than a year away! #PWGathering #2018ChurchwideGathering

December Care Cart
Although Community Holiday tags were given out in November, this program is the December Care Cart.   Elf help is needed with the Toys for Tots and Community Holidays collaboration.  Community Holidays needs help in sorting and distribution while Toys for Tots needs help in packing their bags.  To volunteer for Community Holidays, go to  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090af23a3f94-2017  and to help Toys for Tots, just show up at the Eppson Center on December 11, 12, or 13.    If you took a tag from UPC's tree, your unwrapped gifts need to be brought to the church and left under the tree between December 8th  and December 11th.   PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR GIFTS TO THE BAPTIST CHURCH.    Also, if you have surplus wrapping and bows, please leave these items in Marcia's Closet.  If you're baking some cookies for Distribution Day, you can take them directly to the Baptist Church on the 20th or give them to a member of the Mission Committee (Vi,  Wayne, or Nancy L).   God bless us everyone. Family Promise FAQ
Q: What is the current status of Family Promise of Albany County? And is there a set date to open?
A: After nearly two years of diligent work, the leaders and volunteers with Family Promise are excited to finish the final tasks that need to be completed in order to host families. We fully expect to open our doors by March of 2018. Here are the updates:
- The Board of Directors is in place and has officer positions assigned. We have four officers and three additional members.
- The Board has hired a VISTA member who is set to start in late January.
- Our Executive Director position is posted and open!  The Board is reviewing applications and hopes to have someone hired by early January to start in early February at the latest.
- The UPC Session is working on plans to renovate space for the Day Center, which will include laundry, shower, and computer facilities for families as well as work space for Family Promise staff.
