OSU vs. U of M Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Battle, Presented by The Coca-Cola Company

OSU vs. U of M

It's hard to believe, but we are already half way through summer. And you know what that means - football season is right around the corner. This season, you can get in the action and help the Buckeyes beat that team up North, Michigan. For the first time, Columbus will be competing with Ann Arbor to see which community can collect the most pop tabs in support of their local Ronald McDonald House in the OSU vs. U of M Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Battle, Presented by The Coca-Cola Company.

Everyone in Columbus wants to beat Michigan, and we need your help to pull this off. The game is really pretty simple. We are asking people and organizations in the community to collect as many pop tabs as possible over the next few months, and deliver them to the Columbus Ronald McDonald House, located at 711 E Livingston Ave, Columbus, OH 43205. We will weigh the tabs, and the Ronald McDonald House with the most tabs will win a $1,000 donation from The Coca-Cola Company. The contest runs from August 1 all the way through the evening of the Michigan game, November 26.

The contest is all football season long, but we need your help immediately! Tell all of your friends. Get your family involved. Tell everyone in your office to collect as many pop tabs as possible. Help us BEAT MICHIGAN!

If you can't make it down to the Ronald McDonald House to deliver your tabs, you can now drop them off at any Telhio location in Central Ohio! To find the location closest to you, please visit

The Most Amazing Volunteers in the World!

meal groupWe believe the volunteers who work tirelessly at the Columbus Ronald McDonald House are the very best in the world. Every single day, they help make the Ronald McDonald House a home-away-from-home for seriously ill children and their families, all out of the sheer goodness of their hearts. As a part of our family, you know that these dedicated men and women do much of the work around the House, including cooking, cleaning, housekeeping, laundry, answering phones, working the front desk, and helping families who need a hand. But did you know that we have a HUGE total of 2,450 volunteers? That's right, 2,450! With 250 House Warmers, 400 Special Event Volunteers, 3 Craftsmen, 1,200 Meal Volunteers, 200 Project Volunteers, and 400 Cleaning Volunteers, our team is massive. But that's what it takes to operate the second largest Ronald McDonald House in the world. So, you can see that we have a great group of volunteers at the House. We think they are pretty amazing! Want to volunteer too? Check out the info below! Thanks.

Thank You Central Ohio for Supporting the 25th Annual Joe Mortellaro RMH Golf Classic
2011 Golf Sign

The community of Central Ohio came together in support of seriously ill children and their families at the 25th Annual Joe Mortellaro Ronald McDonald House Golf Classic. The event raised an amazing $353,000, with $269,000 going directly to the Ronald McDonald House, making it the largest Golf Classic yet! With over 445 golfers playing on 7 difference golf courses, the event was truly massive, the single largest charity golf outing in the state of Ohio. In addition to all of the wonderful golfers, the event wouldn't have been possible with out the 124 volunteers that worked so hard at 5 different golf courses on Monday, July 18.

It's pretty amazing. Millions of dollars raised, thousands of lives change, and all out on the golf course. Well, make that golf courses. This community deserves a lot of credit. This kind of support is tremendous, and is definitely not typical. As friends of the Ronald McDonald House, you have made the last 25 years a little bit brighter for kids and families alike. We look forward to working with you to make the next 25 even brighter. Thank you all for your support!

Quilt and Note from PCC Circle of Grandparents

PCC Circle of Granparents

Recently, we had the privilege to meet some of the most wonderful ladies in the community, Cheryl and Debra from the PCC Circle of Grandparents. This group of ladies works with elementary school children in the community to help instill positive values and character traits. As a  project this year, they took on the task to create a special quilt to encourage guests at the Ronald McDonald House. And this is no ordinary quilt. In fact, the patches are made up of drawings created by the students, depicting different positive character traits.

Cheryl and Debra visited the Ronald McDonald House to deliver the quilt and take a tour of the facility. Their warmth and excitement for life were contagious, and  it was a true pleasure to meet them. Following our meeting, we received a very nice note from Debra thanking us for the tour and explaining their experience working with the Ronald McDonald House. We thought you might like to hear what they had to say.

Dear Ronald McDonald House,

Thank you for taking the time to meet with Cheryl and me today.  Seeing the Ronald McDonald House left both of us speechless (which until today was thought to be impossible).  Our ride home was less chatty as we both processed what we'd seen and heard.

The Ronald McDonald House is the embodiment of all the character traits that our group is teaching students in Worthington.   With all the negative news in the media today, it is heartwarming to see so many good people doing good things for people in crisis.  Thank you for your part in making all of central Ohio proud of having such an amazing respite filled with loving volunteers and staff.

Thank you again for the tour and for opening our eyes to the great work that you are providing for the families of our most precious resource.

Thank you,

Debra

Snowville Creamery Delivers Milk to the Ronald McDonald House!

Snowville Creamery Snowville Creamery has been known for amazing milk for years. Their philosophy of bottling minimally processed milk from pasture-based, grass-grazing dairying methods makes some of the most delicious milk anyone could enjoy. And if it wasn't good enough that they have such great, wholesome milk, they just started to deliver milk to the Columbus Ronald McDonald House completely free of charge - a donation that will amount to thousands of gallons of milk every year. This is especially helpful to guests of the Ronald McDonald House, providing fresh and healthy nourishment, and the peace of mind knowing that they have one less thing to worry about. So, on behalf of the guests at the Ronald McDonald House, our thanks go out to the wonderful people at Snowville Creamery for their generosity and support of our mission!

Another Great York Golf Outing to Benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities

Dr. John Banner has been a friend of the Ronald McDonald House for many years. As the individual who runs the York Golf Club Charity Golf Outing to Benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities, Dr. Banner has donated thousands of dollars and worked countless hours to put on a great event and raise funds for the House. This year's event was a great success, with over 100 golfers having a great time at one of the most historic golf courses in Central Ohio. Our thanks go out to Dr. Banner and all of the golfers who made the event possible. We look forward to another great event in 2012!

Thank you Freund, Freeze & Arnold

Our partners at Fruend, Freeze & Arnold held their very first annual Ronald McDonald House 5k this past Saturday, July 23, and it was a great success! The event generated nearly 100 runners, and was a spirited race starting and finishing at Genoa Park in Downtown Columbus. Special thanks go out to Megan and Bart for their hard work and dedication to pull off the event.
