UPIKE Announces Fourth College

The University of Pikeville took another major step toward meeting the comprehensive educational needs of Central Appalachia, announcing the creation of the Kentucky College of Optometry, the fourth college under the university banner. | More

Join us Saturday night, March 22nd at Artists Collaborative Theatre to watch Elkhorn City's finest as they perform Wendy Kessleman's adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank. Join the UPIKE Alumni Association for a day of fun and excitement at Keeneland's Spring Meet, Friday, April 4. Gates open at 11 a.m. Guests must check in by 1:15 p.m.

Kenny Manigault

A transfer from Wichita State, Manigault is currently averaging 9.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, making him a real factor in the men's basketball team's success this season. Not only does he make a difference for the Bears offensively, but he has also contributed tremendously on the defensive end in ways the stats sheet cannot reflect. |  More

A Practical Model for the Small Business Manager
David Snow, D.M., is the director of business competitions and assistant professor of business at the University of Pikeville - Coleman College of Business. He recently received the runner up award for Best Applied Paper. The award was presented during the Small Business Institute's annual conference in Las Vegas, Nev. |  More
KYCOM Dean Leads
Blue Ribbon Commission

The AOA and the AACOM established a commission to address challenges in the U.S. healthcare system that require new thinking about healthcare delivery and the education of physicians. Led by Dean Buser, D.O. and co-chair Marc B. Hahn, D.O., the commission consisted of thought leaders from across the spectrum of the osteopathic medical profession. | More

Make room in the trophy case because the University of Pikeville men's bowling team is bringing home its first Mid-South Conference Team Championship after a dominant performance. | More

The Mid-South Conference added singles and doubles events to this year's men's bowling championship and UPIKE's Michael Fonseca wasted no time bringing the individual trophy home for the Bears. | More

Regular Season | MSC Tournament 

With a 24-2 (now 30-2) overall record and 14-1 mark in MSC play, no other conference team can catch second-ranked UPIKE in the standings.  UPIKE won the NAIA National Championship under coach Wells in 2011, but the conference championship had eluded him,  not now. | More

For the first time since the 2000-01 season, UPIKE has captured the Mid-South Conference Regular-Season and Tournament Championships after routing Georgetown (Ky.) 96-71 in the final game at Dallas Floyd Gymnasium. | More

Kyle Wilson, men's bowling; Kelly Wells, men's basketball; and Jeannie Stone, cheerleading were recently named Mid-South Conference Coaches of the Year for their respective sports.

We have three coach of the year recipients and encourage you to read on to learn more. You might also be interested in listening in on President Hurley's announcement regarding our new Kentucky College of Optometry.

One of '25 Most Powerful Women in Banking Offers Career Advice

Hale graduated from what is now the University of Pikeville, where she majored in business and minored in math. "I wanted to stay in my hometown and there was limited opportunity, so I needed a backup plan," she said. "The world always needs math teachers." Hale worked for Pikeville National Bank while in college, but quit to finish her senior year because the bank didn't allow part-time workers. The bank's chairman, Burlin Coleman, just assumed she would return after graduation. | More

For Service to KYCOM
UPIKE President Emeritus William H. Owens was named the John A. Strosnider, D.O., Memorial Lecturer.

Owens, who served as president of the university from 1985-1997, was instrumental in the early development of the Ky. College of Osteopathic Medicine. | More

Nick Carrillo

It was a great first day for UPIKE at the 2014 Mid-South Conference Women's Bowling Championship as Christina Halen and Astrid Valiente teamed up to capture the singles and doubles championships. | More

The UPIKE women's bowling team came up one win shy of capturing its first Mid-South Conference Team Championship on Saturday, losing to Bethel (Tenn.) in the final round at Ken-Bowl Lanes. | More

For the second straight season, the UPIKE cheerleading team won the Mid-South Conference team championship after a stellar performance on its home court at the UPIKE Gymnasium. | More
London Chanelle Hill was born on St. Patrick's Day in 2012. Hill calls her his "own personal lucky charm." Lucky charms are something to cherish; he not only had to balance what was right for him, but for her future as well. This would prove to be the defining moment of his adult life. | More

Since my acceptance in 2010, I have been given some unique and wonderful opportunities concerning my medical future. My freshman year, we participated in D.O.s on the GO, where we worked alongside doctors and KYCOM students as they provided residents with basic health screenings and osteopathic manipulative treatment. | More

Congratulations to alumnus Nick Jamerson, of the musical duo Sundy Best, on the release of "Bring Up the Sun." The group's second album, released March 4, is already making its way up the charts.
