Thanks to everyone who came out for our PTA meeting on Tuesday. It was great to see  some new faces! If you are interested in reading the minutes from the meeting, you will  be able to find them by next week on the UPark website.

Also, a huge THANK YOU to Traci Samaras for sprucing up the front office by painting  the banquette that was showing a bit of wear and tear!

Scholastic Book Fair

School Book Fair
This year UPark's Fall Book Fair runs November 14 through November 18 in the library. The Book Fair will be open every morning from 8:00 until 9:00 and after school from 3:45 until 6:00 every day except Friday, November 18. On November 18 it will be open from 8:00-9:00 am only.
Online Book Fair
University Park Elementary's online Book Fair starts November 9 and runs until November 27. Find Book Fair information and purchase books online here. Download the free app to make shopping easy! 
Use this opportunity to keep your kids' enthusiasm for reading alive! If you have any questions, please contact   Kathleen Von Stein . Remember that every book you purchase benefits our school!

Save the Date for the 2017 University Park Auction!!!
The 2017 University Park Elementary Silent Auction Live Event will be the evening of Friday, April 21, 2017 at The University of Denver. This fun event is in the Gold Room and Marion Gottesfeld Room (the gold spire at DU) on the DU campus. In addition to the live event, the online auction will be held the week leading up to April 21st. More details, how to support the event and how to buy tickets will be communicated in the weeks to come, but mark your calendar today. 

Staff Update

Deanne Afman will be retiring at the end of this school year. She will be greatly missed!

Sharon Rusin, our current 2nd grade para, will be taking over in the office while Alexis is on maternity leave starting in late January. Next year, Sharon will take over for Deanne after her retirement. Congratulations, Sharon!
Dalia Abdulrahman is our new ELA Paraprofessional. Give her a warm welcome when you see her!

Picture Retake Day

Picture retake day is this coming Tuesday, November 15th. If your student was absent for the original picture day you can pick up an order form in the main office. If students need a retake you do not need to fill out a new order form, simply bring in the original picture package to exchange.

Annual Thanksgiving Lunch
Wednesday, November 16th

University Park welcomes students and families to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with a turkey lunch in the school cafeteria on Wednesday, November 16th. The lunch will be held at your student's regularly scheduled lunch time. 

Prices for guests:
Child (Non-Student) $3.00
Adult $5.00
*You can pay for guests by cash or checks made out to University Park. Payments can be made to Stela in the lunchroom in advance or on the day of (please note the cafeteria will be busier than usual on the day of).

RSVP to Stela, our Cafeteria Manager, no later than November 11th!!

Kindergarten Thank You!
Kindergarten would like to thank the UPark Community for our baby spider plants!
Each UPark child in all 4 Kindergarten classes was able to plant a spider plant to help learn about how to "be nice to spiders."  A special thanks to Amy, Liam and Sophia Homburger, Howard and Tiffany Cantor, Sue Stutz, John Neuhalfen, and Sue Bryers. Next mid-October look for the opportunity to harvest baby plants for our next generation of UPark students.
