Principal Update
- I would like to welcome Michelle Seabury as our second new Mild/Moderate teacher starting next year! Michelle grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology & Sociology from Lake Forest College, and earned her special education teaching license from Denver's Teacher Institute at La Academia. She has taught special education for the past three years at a public high school in Colorado Springs where she had the opportunity to develop a program for students with high functioning autism. Michelle's favorite part about being a special educator is working closely with students and families to dream, set big goals, and take daily actions to accomplish them. Outside of teaching, Michelle enjoys reading, cooking, yoga, and road tripping as much as possible. She is absolutely thrilled to be joining the University Park team!
- As we continue to develop our plans for next school year, it is extremely helpful for us to know if you are NOT planning to attend UPark. Please respond to Deanne Afman as soon as possible with your child's name and current grade if you will NOT be attending the 2015-16 school year here.
- Next Tuesday, we will send home the UPark Parent Survey. It is extremely important to receive as many responses from our families as possible not only to take the temperature of our school community, but also help UPark maintain a BLUE rating on the DPS School Performance Framework (i.e. we receive points for the number of surveys returned and the number of positive results).
Grant Varveris Team UPark 720.424.3410 *Registration dates for the 2015-16 school year will be Thursday, August 13th 11am-7pm and Friday, August 14th 7am-3pm. Click here for the 2015-16 school calendar. |
We are just 3 weeks away from the Home Tour on Sunday, May 3rd and we need your help! We need volunteers to take a 2 hour shift in one of our five spectacular homes on this year's Tour. Did you know that if you volunteer, your ticket to go on the tour is only $10 and you get to come to the Kick-Off Party on Friday, May 1st?
Please volunteer! Sign up here.
The other ways you can help make this event a big success are:
- Buy tickets! They are on sale in the office or here. $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the tour.
- Pass it on! Encourage your family and friends to come out and support the school.
This is a fun, community-building event and huge fundraiser for our school. In addition to the five beautiful homes that will be open, there will be an event at UPark featuring a local home and garden market, food trucks, bake sale and lemonade stand, activities with Master Gardeners, and more!
Thank you,
The University Park Home Tour Committee
