Principal Update

  • Believe it our not, we are already thinking about the 2015-16 school year.  Please click here for a digital copy of our University Park Student Placement Process - the process our UPark staff will follow to create next year's class lists.  Within this process is an opportunity for parents to submit a Student Information Request Form.  This optional form allows a parent to express certain learning styles and behavioral needs for his or her student.  Deadline for parent input through the Student Information Request Form is Thursday, April 9th. Please know that our ultimate goal at UPark is to create 3 well balanced classrooms at each grade level.

  • Tracy Dodd, our wonderful Affective Needs teacher, will be retiring at the end of the year.  She will be missed.  I would like to welcome Wayne Gerke (pictured), as the new AN teacher for next year.  Wayne was born and raised in Tipton, Missouri.  He earned his Bachelor's of Science in Education at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield and taught special education in Mo. for three years before moving to Alaska.  During his 20 years in Alaska he worked for two years in a remote Yupik Eskimo village then moved to Fairbanks where he earned his Masters in Educational Leadership and held a variety of teaching and administrative positions.  Wayne moved to Denver in December of 2011 and has been the teacher for the primary Affective Needs Center at Cheltenham Elementary for the past three years.  In his free time Wayne likes to camp, travel, do home improvement projects and spend time with his daughter and son who live in Missouri.

Home Tour

The 11th Annual University Park Home Tour will be held on Sunday, May 3rd from 11am-5pm. This is a fun, community-building event and huge fundraiser for our school.  In addition to the five beautiful homes that will be open, there will be an event at UPark featuring a local home and garden market, food trucks, bake sale and lemonade stand, activities with Master Gardeners, and more!  Please consider helping in one or all of the following ways:

  • Buy tickets!  They are on sale in the office or here.  $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the tour.
  • Volunteer!  We need volunteers to take a 2-hour shift in a home.  It is easy, free, and if you choose to go check out the other homes, your ticket is only $10. Sign up here
  • Pass it on! Encourage your family and friends to come out and support the school.

Thank you!
