Principal Update

University Park is working with an Overton family representative on their wishes for a memorial to Georgia.  When we have that information, we will share with the UPark community.

This was taken from the Denver Post: Gone to heaven much too soon, Georgia died on August 20 in a car accident in Mississippi. She was born in Memphis on January 23, 2006, and moved to Denver when she was 5. Georgia was nicknamed GoGo before she was born because she was such an active girl. Georgia was so capable and wise way beyond her years. She made friends everywhere she went, including her school days at Grace St Luke's in Memphis and UPark in Denver. She had an amazing fashion sense for a 9 year old, and could spot a designer knockoff from across the room. She used her sense of style to transform her gracious Daddy's hair and toenails more than a few times. For Georgia, life was literally a dance and you saw it in her every step. Her infectious smile and giggles will live forever in her family's heart. Georgia is survived by her father William, brother Will, her aunts Lindsay Overton, Kendall Overton, and Tracy Kerr, cousins Andrew and Julia Kerr, uncles Gary Kerr and John Porter, and an extensive Porter family in Arkansas, including her grandmother Sharon Porter.

Any student in grades ECE-5 who forgets or loses their lunch money may charge up to $5.25. Prior to this limit being reached, a written notice will be given to the student to notify the parent/guardian. If payment for charges is not received the next school day, an alternate meal will be served. If charges are not paid after two days, a nutritious snack will be served instead of a meal. In all cases, the charges must be paid back.

A message from the Neighborhood Center:

Dear Parents,

I have received a promotion with the Department of Extended Learning and will step away from University Park. Being at U Park was a great privilege and I will never forget it. I want to thank the community, parents, staff, and especially the wonderful students who make U Park what it is. You may see me walking around U Park as I transfer the role to the new Program Specialist Jesse Broadfoot. Jesse is amazing, and has great ideas to elevate both KC and enrichment to a whole new level. I am happy for all of my experiences at U Park and will miss it with all my heart, but I am also happy that the Neighborhood Center is left in great hands of the new Program Specialist and returning staff.

Best,
Omid Amini

5 Star Wizard Hat Students:

Starting next week, this is where you will find our congratulations to the last week's 5 Star Wizard Hat students! They were recognized by their teachers for positive behavior.   When students are "caught" being respectful, responsible, caring, cooperative, and joyful, they may receive a Wizard Hat slip. Being acknowledged and recognizing the positive behavior is the true "reward." Each Friday teachers randomly select Wizard Hats to send to the office. Students are congratulated by the Principal and have their picture taken with him.

*At the end of each month we will be donating all clothing in the lost and found and anything left in the halls(all clothing will go into our little red school house in our parking lot).
