From the Student Council

Dear Parents/Guardians of UPark Students,

Every month Student Council will put together a newsletter informing families of events and activities. To begin, in the month of November we put together a spirit week. Thank you to everybody who participated and we look forward to planning more spirit weeks in the future. We also planned a tolerance activity for fifth grade during lunch. Students and teachers sat at different lunch tables and the purpose of this activity was for students to meet new people and step out of their comfort zone. We are looking forward to doing this for every grade as the year goes on. Finally, in the month of December, we are going to work on planning a winter clothing drive that will take place in January.

Thank you,

UPark Student Council

Drop Off & Pick Up Safety: Champion the Effort

Drop off and pick up safety in and around the school is of the utmost importance to the entire UPark community. We are looking for someone to be a representative of the school and work with the University Park Community Council (UPCC), the City of Denver, our immediate school community and nearby residents to look at safer ways to approach this topic and be a voice/representative of the school when/if the City has
plans to make changes to our immediate area. If interested, email [email protected].

Recycled Ornament Challenge

The Student Green Team challenges the UPark community to create winter decorations using only recycled materials!

Through December, students may hang 1 ornament made with recyclables in the lobby outside the main office. Students should write their name and room number on the ornament and on the grade level list next to the tree, then hang the ornament in their grade level area of the tree, Kindergarten through 5th.  Weather permitting, the "Maker" Cart will also be a place to create a decoration with recyclable. Student Green Team members will judge ornaments and give out prizes for each grade level.

Congratulations to last week's 5 Star Wizard Hat students! They were recognized by their teachers for positive behavior.

Last week's students include: Delaney Muilenberg, Olivia Babbitt, Claire Robinson, Kyle Gutierrez-Carrasco, Wesley Tyner, Albert Rees, Fiona McCaughey, Miles Noble, Raffa Akbar, Abby Keshena, Kaden Frank, Akira Nieft, William Bollmann, Declan Todd, Denis Zlatanov, Evan Carmichael, Logan Shirey, Kyra Hornung Standell, Mateo Gochman-Moreno, Landon Metzger, Lilah Brant, Shreyas Rao, Olive Davis, Nate Bolinske, Jacob White, Calvin Davidson, Preslie Holmes, Cooper Morton.

Wizard Hats are given throughout UPark to celebrate students' good choices and positive behavior. We use a common vocabulary and teach Critical Thinking skills using the BrainWise curriculum.    Each week there is a random drawing of 2 students done by classroom teachers. These children are photographed and receive a token of our appreciation.

*At the end of each month we will be donating all clothing in the lost and found and anything left in the halls (all clothing will go into our little red school house in our parking lot).
