BALM
Big as Life Music Summer Band Camp

The Big as Life Music (BALM) Summer Band Camp registration is open!   These are action and music packed, all day  (9 a.m.-4 p.m.)  week-long camps that are open to incoming 4th-8th grade students. Both beginning and advanced students are welcome!  No experience needed for beginners.

We always have a fantastic time learning and playing our instruments. Each day, we have water balloon fights, art projects, do our own research, rehearse and enjoy guest musical performances. This is a great way to keep your child playing through the summer or to get an early start for band next year.  I encourage you to sign-up soon, as all camps filled up quickly last year.

The 2016 BALM Summer Camps are:
June 6-10: Rock Band Camp
June 20-24: World Music Camp -Peru and South Africa
June 27-July 1: American Folk Music Camp
July 11- 15: Tyrannical Tunesters- Composition Camp

Would You Like to Make a Difference at UPark on February 27?

Hello Friends & Neighbors of University Park! Your community council is teaming up with Project Helping to offer residents the opportunity to help make a difference in the neighborhood in 2016. Our first project will start at University Park Elementary School, who needs our help to paint 10 classrooms and provide some TLC in the school. We are seeking 50 volunteers to help us on Saturday, 2/27/16 from approximately 9am - 1 pm. Bring your family, friends & anyone who likes to paint. And if you can't join us, please consider a small donation to help us raise the $1,200 for paint & supplies.  Click here for more details and to sign-up. THANK YOU!

Emergency
UPark Emergency Preparedness

We know that school safety is always on people's minds, especially with all of the activities that have been in the news lately.  We want to assure families that we are cognizant of this concern and wanted to let you know what we have in place here at University Park.

Every school in DPS is required to practice drills on a regular basis.  We practice fire drills monthly and shelter in place and lock down drills several times a semester. These are all done in cooperation with the Denver Public Schools emergency team.  Here at University Park, our crisis team is in place and meets regularly to review safety procedures, roles, and protocols.  We remain vigilant about visitors in the building and continue to make sure our doors are locked and secure. In the case of a major emergency, DPS central office will contact families regarding the situation and next steps. For more information on Emergency Preparedness, click here.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Grant Varveris
