Families,

 

As testing season approaches, I want to make sure our 3rd-5th grade students have many opportunities to prepare for the new PARCC test.  Click here for information, practice tests, and more.  Please feel free to email me with any questions.

*State Assessment Testing weeks of March 9th and March 16th.  Please keep these dates in mind when scheduling appointments and vacations as all students are expected to be present during testing.

Dream BIG Day Camp proudly supports UPark! Join them in celebrating their 10th anniversary this summer with team/individual sports, performing arts, and arts & crafts. Their camps feature 6:1 camper to counselor ratios with an emphasis on building self-esteem and great camp memories! Enjoy yoga, rocketry, a climbing wall, basketball, water slides and much more at their Denver and/or Greenwood Village locations.
  
  

Our next PTA meeting will be Tuesday, February 3 at 6 pm.  We will be focusing on the school budget for 2015-2016.  Childcare will be provided.

  • Girls on the Run spring registration starts February 2nd and there only 20 spots available.  Girls on the Run inspires girls to a lifetime of self-respect and a healthy lifestyle through an innovative program that combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk race with a fun, health education lesson plan. We will meet Mondays (starting March 2nd) and Fridays after school.   • Would you like to join the Neighborhood Center Advisory Committee? Your valuable input will help with the direction of our program and identify areas where the Neighborhood Center can expand further into the community. For more information click here!

 

  • On February 17th, the Department of Extended Learning is offering a Dismissal Day camp incorporating a lot of technology, filming, and video editing at University Park...students will spend the day making a movie and at the end of the day, show their film to an audience (parents). If you are interested check out this flyer and if you would like to register then fill out the registration form and return to Omid Amini at University Park.

Don't forget-Next Thursday (February 5th) is PJ Day at University Park!  Support Denver's Road Home by bringing in canned food and/or a $1 donation or more and wear your PJs to school!  We will be accepting canned food beginning Monday, February 2-Friday, February 6th.

DU Basketball Night!

DU Basketball tickets are still available for Thursday, February 12th @ 7pm!  Pick up a ticket order form in the office or download one HERE.  All orders are to be turned in to the office by Tuesday, February 10th.

Silent Auction News:

The 2015 University Park Elementary Silent Auction is right around the corner - 6:00 pm Thursday, March 5, 2015 at The University of Denver.  Help us secure donations by asking your favorite establishments to donate to our Auction.  Click here to download a solicitation letter and a donation form. Contact Dana O'Connor at 303-920-0193 or [email protected]  if you have ideas, want to donate something, or have questions. All proceeds from the Auction go to support second educators in the classroom and donations are deductible.

It's Yearbook Time!

 

ORDER YOUR YEARBOOKS TODAY! Look for the Yearbook order form from Dorian to be brought home by your student this week. Order forms will also be available in the office.  Yearbooks are $15. PLEASE MAKE YOUR CHECK OUT TO UPARK PTA.  The yearbook signing party will be Friday, May 29th at the end of the school day (also Field Day!).  Pre-Paid yearbooks will be distributed that morning, any yearbooks left after the pre-sale will be for sale during the yearbook signing.  Don't forget this wonderful memory of your child's year at UPark elementary!

 

Calling All Photographers for the Yearbook!  We want your pictures for the yearbook. If you have photos and you have been meaning to get them to the yearbook staff, now is the time. Please email your jpg photos (with the grade and teacher name if possible) to Jennifer Bruns or leave a disk in the office clearly marked "yearbook photos" for Jennifer Bruns.  The more pictures of students we have, the better our yearbook will be.
