Semantics Team News

The UPark Semantics team attended the DPS Written Spelling Contest on Saturday, February 10th. Over 250 students (elementary through 8th grade) attended from across the district with the top 25 moving on to the DPS City Orals spelling bee as well as the Colorado state spelling bee. Our group of nine spellers had to be familiar with more than eight word origins and spell words like frolic, Kilimanjaro, belligerent, langlauf and taxidermy. The team did not have anyone move on this year but they worked VERY hard over these last six months and had a great time in the process. Congratulations, Semantics Team - a job WELL DONE!

Last week's students include: Emerson DeZeeuw Spencer, Mohammed Alsaadawi, Braydn Willden, Jimena Perez, Owen Reese, Liam Baker, Chloe Choughari, Iris White, Abby Hazelwood, Franzi Henze, Cooper Stone, Elliot Bieschke, Ramsey White, Harmony Mora, Lucas Lipke, Michael Sutton, Tyler Dolan, Barrett Bodhaine, Riley Haggard, Erion Muji, Cash Kristie, Darci Shuler, Purple Grajeda, Marley Stoler, Lincoln Gallagher, Toby Macias, Finola White, Teddy Rogala, Oliver Samuels, Jack Stallworthy.

Wizard Hats are given throughout UPark to celebrate students' good choices and positive behavior. We use a common vocabulary and teach Critical Thinking skills using the BrainWise curriculum.  Each week there is a random drawing of 2 students done by classroom teachers. These children are photographed and receive a token of our appreciation.

*At the end of each month we will be donating all clothing in the lost and found and anything left in the halls (all clothing will go into our little red school house in our parking lot).
