Apple Campaign in the Final Stretch
There are ONLY 12 more days to reach the Apple Campaign fundraising goal of $70,000. We have only raised $34,325 to date - please help us reach our goal.  We need to double our donations! Remember, we are taking pledges for 2016-17, so you can make a pledge but write your check at a later date.
These donations directly impact the size of University Park classrooms. Thanks to the PTA fundraising efforts, our kindergarten classes now have about 20 kids per teacher - one of the best ratios in DPS, and our other classrooms are staying small, as well. Without PTA assistance, UPark would lose two full time teachers.

Donations can be made online here  or checks can be dropped off in the school office into the Apple Campaign box. OR, come to the Fun Run/Carnival and visit the Apple Campaign booth to make a donation. Don't forget to ask friends and family to support our school as well.

Restaurant Night TONIGHT!

Eat at Pei Wei  (3970 Buchtel Blvd) today, October 20th from 11:00am-9:00pm and they'll give 20% of sales to support UPark! Make sure to present this flier when you dine.

Spirit Wear 10-day promotion coming soon!
Colder days are approaching and University Park has some Spirit Wear items that will keep you warm and show your school pride. There is a 10-day promotion starting on Sunday, October 23rd. A table with information, sample items and order forms (checks/cash for payment) will be at the School Fun Run and Carnival. Please Note - Our school will also receive 10% back for every order. If you need more information, please contact Traci Samaras (UPark Parent).

You can preview now, but online orders start on 10/23 here.

Spirit Week is coming!
University Park is having a spirit week! Spirit week is a week where your child will dress differently for every day of the week. Spirit Week is October 31st - November 4th.
Monday: Halloween-come to school dressed in your costume.
Tuesday: Time Travel Tuesday/Decade Day-dress up in clothes from another decade.
Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday-dress in your wackiest and weirdest clothes (crazy hair, wear your clothes backwards or mismatched, mismatched socks and shoes, etc.).
Thursday: Kids Dress Up/ Staff Dress Down-kids come to school wearing nice clothes and staff dresses in things like sweat pants, old jackets, etc.
Friday: No School
Remember your child does NOT have to participate if they don't want to, it is optional, but we hope they will. Thank you!

Reusable Party Kits from the Student Green Team!

Parent Volunteers and Teachers can check out one of our 10 Zero-Waste Party Kits which include 30 reusable plates, cups and utensils to be used for classroom parties. Use the colorful kit and volunteer to wash it instead of buying disposable items that add to the landfill. Sign up for kits through Ms. Cardenas in room 116.  Pick up and return them to the 1st floor Staff Lounge/Kitchen.  We will have a google form later this fall.

The kids are excited to share this great way to help our school reduce waste. Green Team representatives would be happy to explain how it is a benefit to our planet.
Reminder: The UPark Student Green Team wants 2 student members from each class!  Green Team is a fun way to help UPark help our Earth.  Please click here for our new "green" e-Application and Parent Permission form to sign your UPark student up! The Green Team meets once a month 8:15 on the 2nd Friday! Any student K-5 is welcome.  Our leaders are K Teacher Ms. Judy Cardenas  and Parent Leader, Crystal Moreno You will receive an email confirmation when your application is accepted.

Calling All Creative Parents!

Each year all the UPark grades join as one to create amazing class art projects. These masterpieces are then presented to the community and sold at our annual auction in the Spring. We are looking for ideas and parents to lead or facilitate these class projects. The possibilities are endless...painting, transforming a piece of furniture, a sculpture, a mosaic or any creative expression that the whole grade can do (approximately 75 kids).

If you have an idea, a special talent, artful expression, want to lead a class or possibly the whole effort,  email Dana O'Connor at

Registration for Discovery Day Camp on November 4th is OPEN! Click  here to register.
