Kids Halloween Costume Exchange

On Friday, October 7th after pick up (3:45pm) in the school gym, we will hold our first ever Halloween Costume Exchange. If you have Halloween costumes that your kids no longer need or want, and/or your kids want to find a costume for this Halloween, then please donate your costume and come look for a "new to you" costume.  (Please note you don't have to donate a costume in order to have your child come and pick out a costume).

We will be accepting gently used costumes starting tomorrow Friday, September 30th in the front office or next week starting Wednesday, October 5th thru Friday, October 7th in the mornings at drop off near the Fun Run am running track.  After the exchange if we have any costumes left, we will donate the costumes to UPark and a local charity.

King Soopers Grocery Gift Card Fundraising

Our grocery card program is a no hassle/no cost way to raise funds for the UPark PTA. The UPark PTA has free re-loadable King Soopers grocery gift cards that give 5% of every dollar spent back to the University Park PTA. This fundraising tool allows our PTA to receive money from King Soopers without having to ask our family community to spend any of their own money! Our goal this year is to raise $12,500 from the King Soopers grocery card program.

To participate, please email [email protected] to receive your re-loadable grocery card. The card comes with $2.50 pre-loaded on it. The next time you are at King Soopers, have the cashier put additional money onto your grocery card anytime before they ring up your groceries. Then you can use the grocery card to pay for your groceries and/or your gasoline when you go to King Soopers gas stations. When your grocery card runs out of money, you simply reload it at King Soopers with a cashier, and repeat.

Every dollar spent by UPark families at King Soopers could benefit our school, so don't forget to use your King Soopers grocery card at check out. If you don't have a card please email [email protected] to get one!

Thanks for supporting our school!

Thank you to all the 5th graders who created a logo for this year's Fun Run t-shirt. The drawings were all amazing. The winner this year was Austen Ford for his modern, signage style logo. Thank you Carol Redmond, our art teacher, for helping. Way to go Austen!

Calling All Creative Parents!

Each year all the UPark grades join as one to create amazing class art projects. These masterpieces are then presented to the community and sold at our annual auction in the Spring. We are looking for ideas and parents to lead or facilitate these class projects. The possibilities are endless...painting, transforming a piece of furniture, a sculpture, a mosaic or any creative expression that the whole grade can do (approximately 75 kids).

If you have an idea, a special talent, artful expression, want to lead a class or possibly the whole effort,  email Dana O'Connor at [email protected].

Walk or Bike to School Day

Join University Park on Wednesday, October 5th  to walk or bike to school!

Looking for a healthy way to start the day? Jump-start your morning  by walking with your child to school. Take some time to promote health, safety and the environment by walking  with your child to school - or just simply taking a walk together. When you get to school, find gym teacher, Tracy Hartin's table, sign the banner, and get a sticker that says you participated in Walk to School day!

Do you live too far away?  Do you ride the bus?
If you live too far from your child's school to walk or you ride the bus, you can drive part of the distance, then park and walk the rest of the way or meet us on the track before school and show your support. The before school Fun Run Program kicks off on October 5, in honor of Walk to School Day.  If there are kids who can't walk/bike to school, another alternative is to arrive to school early and run the track with the Fun Run Program.

Walking to school is a great way to be a part of a global event and to promote health, to identify safer routes for walking, and to improve air quality.

Walk for fitness and walk for fun!  See you on the track!
