Our Apple Campaign Begins!
By the end of this week, each UPark family will receive a letter from our annual Apple Campaign. The Apple Campaign is our PTA's direct giving campaign, and one of our two fundraisers that allow us to provide University Park Elementary with a yearly $120,000 grant. This annual grant to the school covers the cost of two full-time homeroom teachers and two paraprofessionals. The 2016-17 Apple Campaign hopes to raise $70,000 towards this grant by October 31st. Please consider giving to our Apple campaign in any amount that might fit your family's budget. You can bring a check to Back to School Night on Sept. 7th or donate online at

Club Amigos
Club Amigos is back for another exciting year of Spanish
enrichment! It's a great opportunity for your children to learn a
foreign language, with classes that are fun and interactive. This popular program is offered at the school on Friday mornings before school. Limited spots remain, but they fill up quickly.

One Time Workshop Offering:
Glass Fusing
This one time workshop is for young artists in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th, parents are also invited to create with us! Glass fusing is a popular, beautiful, and easy to learn art form. This class will teach the basics of glass fusing in a safe, fun, and creative way. Students will create 2 beautiful holiday ornaments/window hangings that will be fired in a kiln and returned to school. The teacher, Jennifer Werner has been an art educator for DPS for the past 18 years. She currently is the visual arts teacher and yoga instructor at Asbury Elementary. Along with her teaching career she is also a professional artist with a focus on glass art. She has been working with glass and teaching classes for the past 15 years. Please join her for an afternoon of fun, learning, and creativity.

5 Star Wizard Hat Students
Congratulations to last week's 5 Star Wizard Hat students! They were recognized by their teachers for positive behavior.
Last week's students include: Bob (Xutao) Wang, Marlon Landy-Steward, Abby Heider, Karma Montoya, Jackson May, Isis DeLaCruz-Ramirez, Charlie Sweetman, Kaiden Enloe, Maxine Dokken, Charile Gold, Andrew Johnson, Addi Samaras, Talon Wagner, Ella Fairchild, Cooper Morton, Emmanuel Summerour, Owen Fairchild, Aliza Houl, Kaden Frank, Addison Blackwood, Otis Metz, Samuel Loerke, BemAndwele Ray, Juliette Rusin, Taya Jeffres, Sam Davis.
Wizard Hats are given throughout UPark to celebrate students' good choices and positive behavior. We use a common vocabulary and teach Critical Thinking skills using the BrainWise curriculum.
Each week there is a random drawing of 2 students done by classroom teachers. These children are photographed and receive a token of our appreciation.

*At the end of each month we will be donating all clothing in the lost and found and anything left in the halls(all clothing will go into our little red school house in our parking lot).
