We hope all of our families find the electronic newsletter format for Thursday communication helpful. The Newsletter has become our primary communication tool for sending out important school-wide information. In our efforts towards user-friendly, streamlined communication, we discussed implementing the following guideline at our last CSC meeting:

**In general, Thursday folders are used for all communication that requires family action. Examples include Fun Run Registration Forms, Picture Day Forms, Review Past Homework, and Review Report Cards/Return Envelopes. All other "flyer-based" information will be sent through the Newsletter, with a small supply of hard copies located outside the office.

We believe ANY information sent home from University Park is valuable. However, not every piece of information is as valuable to some families as it may be to others. The CSC felt creating the above guideline will help generate the appropriate level of engagement for hard copy information sent home in the Thursday folders, while ensuring families have access to ALL the important information, events, and opportunities available through the UPark electronic newsletter. Exceptions will happen occasionally, but we hope this guideline helps families manage all our UPark information.

Halloween Reminder:

As the Halloween holiday season is upon us, this is a friendly reminder regarding our Wellness Policy at UPark. Please remember school celebrations should have a healthy focus primarily and then sweets in moderation as part of the offering. The Teacher or Room Parent will communicate what specific food items may be needed during these celebrations.  Thank you for your cooperation in supporting the health and wellness of our children.

Unity Day is Wednesday, October 22nd
Support University Park Elementary in making a stand against bullying at school by making your color ORANGE on Unity Day. That's the day everyone can come together-in schools, communities, and online-and send one large ORANGE message of support, hope, and unity.

Wear ORANGE. It can be an orange T-shirt, tie, hat, wristband, socks, or even shoelaces. Show your support beyond the school-wear ORANGE in the workplace, home and community.
