Call for Volunteer Legal Assistance
Waldo Canyon Fire Victims
Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
Counseling on housing problems (including landlord-tenant)
Assistance with insurance claims
Assistance with home repair contracts
Assisting in consumer protection matters
Counseling on mortgage foreclosure problems
Replacement of important legal documents (including wills)
Drafting of powers of attorney
Estate administration
Guardianships and conservatorships
Referring individuals to local or state agencies for further assistance
There are numerous ways you can help.
El Paso County Disaster Recovery Center- Volunteers are needed to return calls to victims who call or come in to the center. Returning these calls is a top priority.
If you would like to volunteer, email Claire Anderson at claire@elpasocountybar.org, and provide your (1) name, email, phone number, (2) areas of experience, (3) how callers should identify to staff that they are fire victims, so to receive an immediate response.

CBA Legal Helpline - Volunteers are needed to return non-emergency calls to fire victims within 48 hours.

A CLE is being coordinated to assist attorneys in helping fire victims. Date and location TBA. If you are interested in attending this CLE, email Claire Anderson at claire@elpasocountybar.org and you will be added to the list to receive information about the CLE. Information about the CLE will also be posted on the Bar website, www.elpasocountybar.org.
