Greetings!
Happy New Year! At the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, cadets will be making their way back for the start of the spring semester this Sunday, January 6th. The cadets will be greeted by frosty temperatures and snow on the ground.
Admissions has completed reviewing Early Action I applications. The results are now available on the Partner portal and list statuses of all those who submitted a completed application by 15 October. As was the case last year, those students not selected during Early Action, received a letter of non-acceptance. A select few students were placed on a wait list or are under further consideration for CGA Scholars.
Those students who have received an appointment should be congratulated and asked if they have any follow-up questions. Admissions will be reaching out to appointees and inviting them to attend the Academy Experience Program (AEP), designed specifically for students who have received an appointment to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The AEP allows for students to stay overnight in Chase Hall, attend classes and sports practices. This program is a must for appointees who may not have had any extended/overnight experience at USCGA.
Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board (CCEB) members are currently reviewing all applications received for the Early Action II deadline of 15 November.
The Regular Admission deadline is 1 February 2013. There is still time for students to complete their application. Please encourage students to diligently work to submit their online application and ensure all recommendations and PFE scores are also submitted by 1 February 2013.
The Class of 2017 is on track to consist of 235 U.S. cadets and up to eight international cadets. The CGA Scholars program shall consist of 40 cadet candidates (summer of 2013).
The AIM 2013 application is scheduled to open ~1 Feb 2013. Students who are rising HS seniors (currently HS juniors) are eligible to attend AIM.
Thank you for your continued efforts with the Class of 2017. We appreciate your efforts at this time of year as you work individually with students by conducting interviews and encouraging applicants to complete their application, as well as congratulatory calls to appointees.
