2014 International Hunter Derby Championship Invitations Issued

Invitations have been issued to compete in the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY on August 14-16.

 

In 2013, the Championship prize money topped $173,000 and once again, 80 percent of the entry fees will be added to the guaranteed $100,000 to create the total prize money purse. In addition, the Derby Challenge (formerly Consolation Round), generously supported by Moyer Farms, will offer $10,000 in prize money.

 

The prize list, entry forms as well as a list of qualified horses, are available online.

Entries must be received in the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show office or postmarked by August 1, 2014, to be eligible to compete in the Championship.

2014 Pre-Green Incentive Championship by the Numbers

The USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Program Championship returns to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, August 12-14, 2014. The excitement felt around the Stonelea ring during the inaugural Championship in 2013 was contagious, attracting hundreds of spectators for all three rounds of competition.

 

By The Numbers:

  • A total of 339 horses are enrolled in the Pre-Green Incentive Program
  • 175 horses are currently qualified for to compete in the 2014 Championship
  • Total prize money for the 2014 Championship has already reached $96,752 (not including 50 percent of each entry fee that is added to the pot!)
  • As new horses enroll in the program, 65 percent of each enrollment fee is added to the total Championship prize money
  • Championship prize money has the potential to exceed $143,500 if more horses enter in 2014 than in 2013
  • In 2014 an $11,500 Pre-Green Bonus Award will be offered-more details to available soon!

Premium Entry Option: International Hunter Derby and Pre-Green Incentive Program Championships

Do you have a Derby or Pre-Green horse that you want to compete in the 2014 Championship? The Premium Entry Option was created to provide an avenue for owners to enter horses in the IHD Championship and the PGIP Championship that for various reasons, were not able to qualify through the standard process. 2015 World Championship Hunter Rider

Member Event Applications Open July 1

Are you a licensee or manager of a Premier or National rated competition interested in hosting a WCHR Member Event? USHJA will be accepting applications to host a 2015 WCHR Member Event starting on July 1, through August 15. WCHR Member Events are determined on an annual basis by assessing member evaluations, member voting, competition standards, geographic distribution and member concentration.Competition Requirements and the official application will be available July 1.

2014 USHJA/Essex Classics Hunterdon Equitation Cup Classic is Rapidly Approaching

The 2014 USHJA/Essex Classics Hunterdon Equitation Cup Classic will be held July 7, 2014, during the USEF Junior Hunter Championships East Coast held July 7-8, 2014, at Brandywine Valley Summer Series in Devon, PA. The prize list for the US East Coast Junior Hunter Finals and USHJA/ Essex Classics Hunterdon Equitation Cup Classic will be available from the Brandywine Valley Summer Series Horse Show. Qualifying ends on July 1, 2014.

2014 USHJA National Hunter Derby

The USHJA National Hunter Derby program is in full force with the competition year nearly halfway complete. Both national and zone earnings are being tracked and with 65 horse shows already in the books the leader board is changing quickly.

 

Adult Amateur riders don't forget you earn zone bonus points for your National Hunter Derby placings as well. For a list of the current leaders for the Adult Amateurs as of June 16, 2014, click here.

Congratulations to the WCHR South Central Regional Competitors

The WCHR's first region wrapped up competition over Memorial Day weekend at the Southwest Classic Horse Show in Tyler, TX. During this competition WCHR members qualified for the WCHR Finals held at the Capital Challenge Horse Show and earned WCHR Medallions based on their placings in the final regional standings. We would like to congratulate the winners of the South Central region in each of the 10 WCHR categories as well as the two owner championships.
