Recreate the beautiful story with the children and re-connect to what it's all about.

Who might need to feel the strength of a spiritual community? Who might be ministered to by the values and commitments of Unitarian Universalism, and by UUs themselves? Invite them to church! Church growth happens almost entirely by word of mouth. If your church matters to you, invite someone you know to come with you.

December 50/50 Sunday Offertory to Benefit My Brother's Table

The beneficiary for the 50/50 collections chosen by the Social Justice Ministry Team for December is My Brother's Table, a program that deals with hunger in the local area. Many people in the UUCGL community are familiar with My Brother's Table in Lynn. This program provides over 110,000 meals a year to anyone who comes through its doors. It receives no federal, state, or local funding and relies entirely on private funding. Guests are treated with respect and kindness by the many volunteers and small staff, and often referrals are made for services. There is a widening gap between high- and low-wage earners and families struggle to put food on the table in a state that has one of the highest costs of living in the nation.

Please make checks payable to My Brother's Table. The Social Justice Ministry Team will match donations to $1,000.

My Brother's Table Holiday Party - Saturday, Dec. 16

The My Brother's Table Holiday Party will be on Saturday, December 16. There is still time to volunteer to help prepare food, serve dinner and appetizers, clean up, and decorate. If you want to help or have any questions, please contact Jeff Gunther.

Giving Tree Reminder

All gifts should be wrapped and returned by December 17. Please affix the gift tag securely to your gift; the number on it will be the only identifier to ensure it gets to the correct child. You may place your wrapped gifts under the tree in the church foyer. Thank you in advance for taking part in this giving opportunity.

Explore Your Dreams
Sunday, Dec. 17, at 3:30 p.m.

The next meeting of the Dreams Workshop, which meets the third Sunday of every month from 3:30-5:30 p.m., is Sunday, December 17, in the Fellowship Room. Please join us. Dreams come to us in the forms of symbols and metaphors with important messages for our lives. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Pearl Brown at [email protected] or 781-631-4905.

Christmas Eve Reception Coordinator Needed

It is traditional for the church to have a small punch-and-cookies reception following the 5:30 p.m. service. If you would like to do this or be part of a team that does, please contact the office.

Fair Trade Products for Holiday Giving

During the holiday season, please consider purchasing Fair Trade items as gifts to friends or family from the UUCGL sales area open Sundays during the after-church hospitality hour.  Our merchandise is obtained from Equal Exchange, one of the largest worker cooperatives in the United States.

Items in stock include: green and black tea; five types of coffee, both ground and whole bean; drinking cocoa and baking cocoa; virgin olive oil; and plain milk, dark, and very dark as well as caramel, almond, and orange-flavored chocolate bars. A project of the Denominational Connections Ministry Team, Fair Trade sales have several benefits, including support for small family farms and contributing to reform of the food chain by linking ecologically responsible farms with one another and with consumers.

For every coffee purchase by a UU church, Equal Exchange makes a contribution to the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee. At UUCGL, sales income, after deductions for merchandise costs and other expenses, supports partner church activities and other Denominational Connections Ministry Team projects.

At the Movies!

If you missed one of the movies that the Green Sanctuary Ministry Team has hosted, remember that you can borrow them for home viewing! GSMT has all of its environmentally themed DVDs on the book cart during Sunday Fellowship Hour along with a sign-out sheet. We request that you keep the DVD out for a 14-day period only.

Welome Newcomers!

It's so important to have a friendly, warm, and welcoming presence in the front foyer on Sunday mornings before worship. You don't need to be trained or signed up. Just park yourself there and say hello, get folks name tags, and show them where the sanctuary is.

Everyone in the church community is hereby deputized Official Greeter! We have so many newcomers lately; let's help them feel at home.

Recurring Events

Covenant Group

Covenant Group is open to anyone from the church interested in learning about and experiencing small group ministry. Gatherings are 11:45-1:00 p.m. in the "Faces" classroom,  the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. If you are interested in joining this group, or even just sitting in to see if you like it, please speak to Lyssa Andersson or Suzanne Forgione. We encourage visitors to try it out for at least three consecutive sessions to get a real feeling for the group. One need not be a UUCGL member, or even a Unitarian Universalist to join a covenant group here.
Dialogue Group
"Dialogue" is a way of practicing deep listening that enables us to share personal experiences and thoughts in a way that collectively builds a more expansive understanding of ourselves and the world around us. We move from reaction to connection. The dialogue is preceded by a short "discursive meditation."  Dialogue and the discursive meditation are part of the method of Cafh, a path of spiritual unfolding. For information about Cafh: www.cafh.org; the discursive meditation: http://www.seedsofunfolding.org/issues/08_11/inspiration.htm  and dialogue, http://seedsofunfolding.org/issues/04_06/features_1.htm   and
The Dialogue Group meets the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 11:45 a.m. There is no obligation to commit to attendance. All are welcome when able to attend. Contact Ron Fishman at [email protected] for more information.

AA Meets on Saturdays, 5 p.m.
An Alcoholics Anonymous group meets every Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The group is open to alcoholics and those who believe they may have a problem with alcohol. We look forward to welcoming all interested.
