May 50/50 Sunday Offertory
to Benefit The Lynn Food Project

Since 1991, The Food Project has built a national model of engaging young people in personal and social change through sustainable agriculture. Each year, they work with over a hundred teens and thousands of volunteers to farm on 37 acres in eastern Massachusetts in the towns and cities of Beverly, Boston, Lincoln and Lynn. They focus on identifying and transforming a new generation of leaders by placing teens in unusually responsible roles, with deeply meaningful work. Food from their farms is distributed through their Community Supported Agriculture programs, Farmers' Markets, and to hunger relief organizations. The young people working in the programs participate in all of these distribution streams, giving them valuable job experiences and a personal connection to our food system and issues of food justice. In addition to producing and distributing food, they help others grow their own through their Community Programs, and provide training resources.

Please make checks payable to the North Shore Food Project with Lynn Food Project on the memo line.

Reusable Bag Collection!

The Beach Sisters program (partnership between Northeastern University Marine Science Center and Girls Inc of Lynn) is collecting reusable bags to benefit those in the Lynn community who might appreciate having them. They are going to be distributed throughout Lynn in June to encourage community members to rely on them instead of one time use plastic bags. If you have any, please bring them THIS SUNDAY,
May 20 and give them to Carole McCauley. For more information, email Carole at [email protected] .

Pledge Reminder

Have you pledged yet? We have made a good start on our 2018/19 pledge drive, but we have not yet reached our 100/100 goal: 100% pledge participation and $100,000 raised through pledging, to fill the gap between our endowment income and our anticipated expenses and to realize our 2017/18 Vision of Ministry to Draw a Wider Circle. You can still participate by placing your pledge card in the box in the church foyer, by returning it to the church by mail, or by e-mailing [email protected]. To assist us with our budgeting process, please submit your pledge as soon as possible. Additional pledge cards are available next to the box in foyer. You may also call the church office if you need assistance. Thank you!

Recurring Events

Covenant Group

Covenant Group is open to anyone from the church interested in learning about and experiencing small group ministry. Gatherings are 11:45-1:00 p.m. in the "Faces" classroom,  the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. If you are interested in joining this group, or even just sitting in to see if you like it, please speak to Lyssa Andersson or Suzanne Forgione. We encourage visitors to try it out for at least three consecutive sessions to get a real feeling for the group. One need not be a UUCGL member, or even a Unitarian Universalist to join a covenant group here.

Dialogue Group

"Dialogue" is a way of practicing deep listening that enables us to share personal experiences and thoughts in a way that collectively builds a more expansive understanding of ourselves and the world around us. We move from reaction to connection. The dialogue is preceded by a short "discursive meditation."  Dialogue and the discursive meditation are part of the method of Cafh, a path of spiritual unfolding. For information about Cafh: www.cafh.org; the discursive meditation: http://www.seedsofunfolding.org/issues/08_11/inspiration.htm  and dialogue, http://seedsofunfolding.org/issues/04_06/features_1.htm   and
