September 50/50 Sunday Offertory
to Benefit REAL
(Reading and Educational Assistance for Learning)
The Program's mission is to improve literacy in Lynn, MA. The Guiding Principle of The REAL Program is Service Learning. It is a teaching method that combines academic instruction, meaningful service, and critical reflective thinking to enhance learning and civic responsibility. REAL Goals are to create a sustainable program that strengthens and supports children, families and teachers by improving literacy, providing experiential learning and supporting self sufficiency and to distribute free, gently used books to the children in the greater Lynn area.
Their needs are financial (for programs and for sprinkler system in a new location) and books. We are collecting new and gently used books (box in the church foyer). The age range is 0 - 8 years of age. This includes board books, picture books and chapter books up to magic tree house level.

Sharing Our Sunday Offerings
September-June
One charitable organization or cause will be chosen each month; each Sunday our offertory will benefit both the church and the charity. How this works:
Cash: All cash in the Sunday collection is split 50/50 between the church and the current charity.
Cash Offering Envelopes: Envelopes on the usher's table, with a check-off list on the front, can be use to designate a cash donation to the church, the charity, or 50/50.
Checks:
To donate only to the charity
- make checks payable to the charity, as listed in the charity's description in the Weekly Update and the Sunday Order of Service Announcements.
To split your donation between the church and the charity
- make checks payable to UUCGL with 50/50 on the memo line.
To pay your pledge only
- make checks payable to UUCGL with pledge on the memo line.

Linda Deveau Memorial Service
Saturday, September 22 - 11:00 a.m.
Linda Deveau passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, September 5th, after a long illness. Our condolences are with her family and loved ones. A celebration of Linda's life will be held on Saturday, September 22nd at the church, followed by a light luncheon. All are welcome. Linda was most comfortable in her jeans and the family encourages casual attire for the celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the UU Service Committee, 689 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA 02139-3302.

Stop By Our Fair Trade Sales Area
Our Sunday Fair Trade sales area in the Parish Hall, operated by the Denominational Connections Ministry Team, has a variety of coffee, tea, chocolate and olive oil available. The sale of these products help to sustain small family farms that adhere to ecologically responsible practices. Proceeds from sales at UUCGL help support the activities of the Denominational Connections Ministry Team.

It's so important to have a friendly, warm, and welcoming presence in the foyer on Sunday mornings before worship. You don't need to be trained or signed up. Just greet people as they enter, get folks name tags, and point the way to our worship service in the sanctuary; and don't forget to invite them to Fellowship Hour! Let's all help

Choir Rehearsals
Choir rehearsals have started up for the fall season. If you like music, please join us in the sanctuary on Thursday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday mornings at 9:00 am. It's a great way to have fun, get to know people and be a part of our church community. All skill levels are welcome.

Covenant Group
Covenant Group is open to anyone from the church interested in learning about and experiencing small group ministry. Gatherings are 11:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
in the "Faces" classroom, the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. If you are interested in joining this group, or even just sitting in to see if you like it, please speak to
Lyssa Andersson or Suzanne Forgione.
We encourage visitors to try it out for at least three consecutive sessions to get a real feeling for the group. One need not be a UUCGL member, or even a Unitarian Universalist to join a covenant group here.

Dialogue Group
"Dialogue" is a way of practicing deep listening that enables us to share personal experiences and thoughts in a way that collectively builds a more expansive understanding of ourselves and the world around us. We move from reaction to connection. The dialogue is preceded by a short "discursive meditation." Dialogue and the discursive meditation are part of the method of Cafh, a path of spiritual unfolding.
