Reflection...

"The Courage of Patience"

When we are overwhelmed with the world
And cannot see our way clear,
When life seems a struggle between tedium and apathy
Or frenzy and exhaustion;
When today seems a punishment and tomorrow a torment,
May we find the courage of patience.

May we recognize courage in ourselves and our companions;
That is not dramatic, that elicits no fanfare;
That commands little notice by the world,
That is forgotten and taken for granted.

May we learn how to cope
Like those who live one day of pain at a time,
Who see the long path of suffering and do not despair,
Who inspire us by their patient courage,
When we are impatient and afraid.

May we know such courage
And quietly celebrate its presence among us.

~ Richard S. Gilbert

Sunday Service
Sunday, July 22
10:30 AM:   "Pain is a Part of Life" with Rev. Jane Lippert
To quote author and Franciscan friar Richard Rohr, "If we don't find a way to transform our pain, we will always transmit it to those around us or turn it against ourselves...If your religion is not leading, teaching you how to recognize, hold, and transform suffering, it is junk religion."

Our 7th annual Specialty Class Summer is off to a great start!
This summer will be filled with outdoor fun (as weather allows) - lots of games, exploration, and building friendships.   This month will include outdoor eye-spy nature activities, work on our UUCGT "Forest Fort" and more!

Suggested reading for families/parents this month:  This month I am suggesting more activities for the summer!

Ella's Summer Fun:  A Kid's Summer Yoga Book
by Giselle Shardlow

"Join Ella as she experiences a week full of fun summer activities with her grandparents.  Be a surfer, skater, and swimmer.  Discover summer, explore movement, and learn the days of the week.  The storybook includes a list of kids yoga poses and a parent-teacher guide.

Kids Yoga Stories introduce you to engaging characters who will get your child laughing, moving, and creating.  Reading is good for the mind AND body!  The story links several yoga poses in a specific sequence to create a coherent and meaningful story".

New Accountant Contracted
The Staff Resources Committee is pleased to announce that we have contracted with David (Dave) Christenson to perform the accounting and human resources tasks currently handled by our Business Administrator, Sheri Novak.  Dave has a BS in Accountancy from the University of Illinois. After twenty years as an accountant and financial officer, Dave formed his own accounting consulting firm in 1987.  He is currently semi-retired, but wants to continue to work part-time with UUCGT as one of his major clients. Dave started work this past Monday, July 16 and is contracted through September 30, 2019.  Sheri will be working with Dave for the next month and will be leaving us for a new opportunity in mid-August.
