This Sunday, April 22nd, is Generosity Sunday
Our Beneficiary is Camp de Benneville Pines

Camp de Benneville Pines serves the members of all congregations in the Pacific Southwest District of the UUA. We are currently raising money to pay for a second water tank at the camp that was added to help maintain an adequate supply of water to the camp during the ever more frequent drought years and to fight the resultant fires. Two years ago, a fire started near the existing water tank that devastated thousands of acres, but luckily there was minimal damage to the camp. We have a matching donation (50K) made by a member of UUFSD. Betsy Gilpin will be our guest speaker.

Also we raised $794 for the Living Tradition Fund in February. Thank you everyone!

Potluck with a Purpose
This Sunday, April 22nd, in Founders Hall after Second Service

The POTLUCK will include whatever climate-friendly/ ethical-choice potluck dishes that we bring to share. The PURPOSE is to begin a discussion about some of your favorite novels, nonfiction books and movies that sparked your interest about environmental issues. Which ones inspired you to learn more? Which ones gave you a sense of awe and wonder? Which ones made you want to take action?

This will also be a time to consider the idea of an "environmental book and movie club".

Please bring a list of what you would be interested in reviewing. For more information contact Linda Pratt at LGPratt@sbcglobal.net .

Great Food and Fellowship Support!

UUFSD Building and Grounds Work Party
Saturday, May 5th, 9:00am-1:00pm

Dear UUFSD B&G Workers and Potential Volunteers,

Our March 10 Work Party was rained out and April had conflicts with other activities on site. We’d like to get back on our regular monthly schedule. Our next UUFSD B&G Work Party will be on Saturday, May 5 from 9:00 AM to noon, followed by lunch. Here are some suggested tasks. What else needs to be done? Please take a look and offer your corrections and suggestions. And please let me know if you can make it. Thanks!

1. We need to trim the plants along the entrance and around the site. Pull weeds along Solana Drive, trim vines outside Founders’ Hall, whack agave sprouts, pull dead yucca fronds outside Office, pull wild cucumbers along the paths, trim and sweep as needed.
We need a Leader and a few Workers, please.

2. We should replace some of the sand bags that help avoid mud flows when it rains.
We need a Leader/Worker, please.

3. Repair the Amphitheater Kiosk overhead door.
We need a couple Leaders, please

4. The motion detector/light sensor outdoor light at Pinecones is acting up and needs diagnosis and cure. Also there are reports that some of our path lights aren’t working right.
We need a Leader and a Helper, please.

5. Prepare lunch for hungry workers.
We need a Chef or two, please.

Please let me know you can help, and what you’d like to do. Thanks!

Weekly Call To Action

The 2020 Census does not currently include questions designed to count LGBTQ+ people living in the US. Promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person by calling your US Senator(s) with this call script: "Hi. My name is [NAME] and I'm a constituent from [CITY, STATE]. I'm calling to urge Senator [FEINSTEIN/HARRIS] to demand that the 2020 Census include questions about gender identity and sexual orientation. This is critical to ensure that policymakers address the discrimination LGBTQ+ people still face in areas like housing and employment." Comments from our Camp deBenneville Pines Weekend

Our annual UUFSD Camp deBenneville Pines Weekend on April 6-8 was so delightful. "I haven't been this relaxed in years" said one camper after progressive relaxation. "I didn't expect to be so moved by this experience" said another after our Beloved Conversations exercise. "We are new and came to get better connected and that is just what happened" said a couple. Hikers, archers, yogis, singers and dancers, painters, and more had their chance to express themselves. If you have never been to camp, here is what one camper said, " I can't believe it took me this long to get here. Now I will always come."
Save the Date!
Music Sunday, June 3rd, 9 AM and 11 AM
"It Takes a Village"

Join us to celebrate the "village" and its children. On this Music Sunday, the choir will embrace love, loss and responsibility in music that considers our roles in our immediate and larger village. The UUFSD Band adds to the musical experience with selections that honor the mourning voice and heartbeat of childhood lost when our young suffer as victims and perpetrators of violence.
