Three Core Concepts in Early Development
The Center on the Developing Child and the National Scientific Council on the Developing Child have created a three-part video series that depicts how new scientific advances give us a much better understanding of how early experiences are built into our bodies and brains, for better or for worse.
Developmental Milestones
Skills such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving "bye bye" are called developmental milestones. Children reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, act, and move. The Centers for Disease Control has developed lists of milestones for children from birth through age 5 to help you track and celebrate each child's developmental milestones.
Overview of Child Development
When you are knowledgeable about child development and learning, you can predict what children of a particular age will typically be like and what strategies will most likely promote their development and learning. In this e-Learning course, you will explore 10 principles of child development and learn how to use these principles in your program.
