The City of Destin is currently discussing the terms for a new franchise agreement with Gulf Power to provide electric service to the city and is simultaneously exploring the option to purchase the electric distribution system from Gulf Power - all in an effort to provide the best rates and service to Destin residents and businesses. Currently, Destin customers pay one of the highest electric power rates in Florida.
Mayor Scott Fischer recently shared his thoughts and facts on the issue in a letter that was published in The Destin Log.
