United Airlines to add New Flight between Williston and Denver Jan. 7
United Airlines to offer another roundtrip flight between Denver in Williston on Jan. 7, 2019.
Williston Economic Development  - United Airlines has announced it will add another flight between Williston and Denver beginning Jan. 7, 2019. The airline's fourth flight will arrive in Williston at 10:50 a.m. and depart for Denver at 12:15 p.m.  Williston Airport Director Anthony Dudas said the new flight will increase opportunities and provide more flexibility for air travelers. "Travelers will have more options for getting to and from Williston connecting through Denver" said Dudas. Read More

Multifamily Housing nears Capacity in Williston
Williston Herald - Vacancy rates went up quite a bit during the downturn, stoking fears that the multifamily sector had overbuilt for the long-term need in the Williston region. However, with crude oil prices in the $60 range, Williston apartments have filled up fast. "Lots of people have gotten hired," said Mike Elliot, founder and managing principal of Energy Real Estate Solutions. "We manage about 4,000 multifamily units in the (Bakken) market, and I think our average for our portfolio is 92 percent occupancy. A year ago, or even two, you were definitely in double digits as far as vacancies go, and some (multifamily) had really big vacancies."  Read More
Williston Job Fair attracts Big Crowd
Williston Herald - Two hundred job seekers crowded into Raymond Family Community Center's lobby for the opening bell of the fall edition of Williston Job Fair. Within a mere hour, another 200 had showed up to make the rounds of 70-some odd employers, and more than 1,000 openings, according to the last jobs report. As many as 600 job seekers in all were expected to show up for this year's fall job fair. Read More
Williston School Enrollments continue to climb at Districts 1 and 8

Williston Herald - School is well underway throughout Williams County and enrollment in the county's two largest districts are up from last year. The total enrollment for Williston Public School District No. 1 is 4,361, up from around 4,100 at the end of last school year. The largest grade is first grade, with nearly 370 students, according to district superintendent Jeffrey Thake. In Williams County Public School District No. 8, enrollment is at 665. District 8 has no high school, so only serves kindergarten through eighth grade. Read More
Klug to receive MSU Golden Award Sept. 20
Williston Mayor Howard Klug will receive the prestigious Golden Award during MSU Homecoming Week Sept. 17-22 in Minot.
News Release - The Minot State University Alumni Association will honor four individuals with the Golden Award and one with the Young Alumni Achievement Award at the 51st Anniversary Dinner. Jay Altringer ('75), Don Hummel ('75), Howard Klug ('80), and Chuck Kramer ('76) have been chosen for the Golden Award, while Tawnya Bernsdorf ('04/'08) will receive the Young Alumni Achievement Award at a dinner planned for Thursday, Sept. 20 starting at 6 p.m. at the Student Center Conference Center. Tickets for the event are on sale and can be reserved by contacting the MSU Alumni Office at 701-858-3234. Cost of the event is $30 per person. Read More
Williston Dog Jog Sept. 15 at Spring Lake Park
News Release - The 20th Annual Dog Job will be held Saturday, Sept. 15 at Spring Lake Park. Prizes will be awarded to the adults and youth who collect the most pledges. Donations will help fund vet expenses and much more! Registration will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the walk at 11 a.m. and BBQ at 11:30 a.m. There will also be a vender and craft show, jump n fun inflatables, face painting and pet costume contest!
Two New Veterinarians Join Watford City Clinic
McKenzie County Farmer - As of Aug. 1, the Watford City Veterinary Center welcomed Drs. Desirae Castillo and Victoria Martin to the clinic's practice.  Both veterinarians share a mutual love of animals. While Castillo likes working with livestock, Martin is more of a cat fanatic.  09/20 ------ Heritage Ag Appreciation Luncheon
The community is invited to a complimentary BBQ chicken dinner to pay tribute to those involved in the agricultural industry. The luncheon will be served from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the former Hedderich's lot in Downtown Williston.

09/20 ------ Art & Wine Walk
The bi-annual Art & Wine Walk will be held from 5-8 p.m. in Downtown Williston. The event will begin at the James Memorial Arts Center. Tickets are available at Castle Framing and Cooks on Main. Must be 21 to participate.

09/29 ------ Clean Up Williston
Help clean up Williston from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Supplies and refreshments will be available at Davidson Park. There will also be roll-offs for used tires (four maximum), metals and other materials. Help keep Williston clean and pick up up trash in your neighborhood, business, boulevards and parks.
