Call-Out Culture, Identity Politics, & Political Correctness
Julia Serano, author of Whipping Girl, visited campus on Thursday, March 22nd, providing a public talk, a workshop on her poetry, and visiting several WGS courses.

Students were overjoyed to engage with Julia and learn more about her perspectives on activism and trans-politics. Read more about Julia's work here.
EMILY's List and the Women Who Will Win
Emily Cain, Executive Director of EMILY's List, also joined us for a public talk on-campus for Women's History Month.

Maryann Hartman Awards
The 31st annual Maryann Hartman Awards were given to three inspiring Maine women who have made a difference in their communities and throughout the state.

NextGen Feminists - A High School Conference

On Monday, May 7th, as part of the WGS 480 - Senior Capstone in WGS - course, graduating seniors hosted 60 high school students to learn more about feminism, consent, LGBTQ and allyship, and more. Interested in your high school student attending? Learn more about the conference here.

WGS/WST Alumnae Spotlight
Susan Iverson, Ed.D., 2005
Susan VanDeventer Iverson is Professor of, and coordinates the doctoral concentration in, Higher Education Leadership at Manhattanville College. Iverson earned her B.A. in English from Keene State College (NH), a M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Boston College, a M.Ed. in Counseling from Bridgewater State College (MA), and her doctorate in Higher Educational Leadership , with a concentration in women’s studies, from the University of Maine.
