The last month of classes has arrived, and we cannot believe how quickly the year flew by! With warmer weather upon us, remind your student how important it is to attend class and stay focused. Final exams will be here before we know it. 

The last day of class is April 24. Reading day is April 25, and there are no classes that day to ensure students have ample time to prepare for exams. Final exams are April 26-May 3.

Parents Weekend 2017
Mark your calendar for Parents Weekend 2017 , to be held Oct. 6-8! Registration is required.

More information about the schedule and registration will be made available in the coming months. Please continue to visit the Office of Parents Programs website throughout the spring and summer as you prepare for an unforgettable Gamecock weekend.  
2017 Commencement
Commencement exercises for the University of South Carolina Class of 2017 will be held May 5-6. If your student is graduating, we suggest you begin reviewing the information below to be sure you are prepared for the big day. Additionally, now is a good time to make hotel and meal reservations for the weekend.

Grad Dine
My Carolina Alumni Association invites graduating spring 2017 students, families and friends to dine at the USC Alumni Center before or after commencement. Take the hassle out of finding a reservation, and celebrate by either attending a seated dinner on Friday, May 5 at 6 p.m. or lunch on Saturday, May 6 at noon. Registration and full details are available here. My Carolina looks forward to welcoming the class of 2017 into the alumni family!
Off-Campus Student Services support
The Ready2Move series is a drop-in program that aims to assist students with their preparation for moving off-campus. Topics such a commuting, safety, budgeting, healthy living and tenant rights will be covered. Students will meet with campus partners, including the Student Success Center, Healthy Carolina, Columbia Police Department, and Fire Safety to ensure a smooth transition to their off-campus living experience. 

Be sure to remind your student about one of the remaining events:

University Housing news
End of year reminder
All students should plan to move out of their residence halls within 24 hours after their final exam and no later than May 4 at 10 a.m.

Fall 2017 Move-In

Spring 2017 payment plan
If your student enrolled in a payment plan for spring 2017, please remember that the last installment is due April 10. 

Summer 2017 bills
Bills for summer 2017 courses will be available after April 19.

Payment deadline for fall 2017
Tuition and fees for fall 2017 are due by 5 p.m. on Aug. 17. Bills will be available for view on Self Service Carolina in mid-July. Students can estimate their fall bill by reviewing the 2016-2017 tuition and fee schedule . Rates are subject to change and information for the 2017-2018 academic term will be posted following the Board of Trustees budget approval in late June.

Opportunities to share with your student
Connect2Cola
Students are invited to join  Off-Campus Student Services , local apartment communities and Columbia vendors to get a taste of living off-campus in Columbia.  Connect2Cola  will bring a slice of Columbia to Greene Street on April 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Discover USC
Discover USC showcases research, scholarship, leadership and creative projects by undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and medical scholars representing the entire USC system. Held on April 21, Discover USC is a great opportunity for students to see what other students are doing within the Carolina community and beyond.

Healthy Carolina Farmers Market
The Healthy Carolina Farmers Market is a collaborative partnership between Healthy Carolina , the Office of the First Lady , Russell House University Union Student Government , Parking Services and the South Carolina Department of Agriculture . The farmers market provides an opportunity for the campus community to purchase healthy, fresh and locally-grown produce and other products. The Healthy Carolina Farmers Market will be held on Greene Street in front of Russell House April 4, 11 and 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

Russell House Study Union
The Russell House Study Union will be held April 26-May 4. During that time, the Russell House will be open until 2 a.m. for students to study and attend de-stress events throughout the week. Free coffee and snacks are offered most evenings after 8 p.m. The "Russell House Review," which offers free massages and late night breakfast, will take place April 26 from 10 p.m. to midnight on the Russell House 2nd floor. The Student Success Center  staff and faculty will be present to provide study sessions throughout the building for students. Students will have the opportunity to print and copy materials for free at the information desk in Russell House.

Sorority Recruitment
Registration for Panhellenic recruitment will open online May 1 and will remain open until Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. (EST). Sorority recruitment will be held Thursday, Aug. 17 to Sunday, Aug. 27. In order to guarantee access to assigned on-campus housing prior to the university move-in date of Aug. 22, students should plan to register by Aug 1. After Aug. 1, there is no guarantee that on-campus housing will be ready and students should anticipate finding alternative housing accommodations until university move-in on Aug. 22. 

Registration dates and fees are as follows:
Early Bird Registration: May 1-31 at 5 p.m. $150
Regular Registration: June 1-31 at 5 p.m. $175
Late Registration: July 1-Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. (EST) $200
