Special 2018 National DNA Day Issue: Celebrating Genomics Through Awareness
National DNA Day is Wednesday, April 25. Here are several "live" events you can participate in, and a few trusted links to help you create a successful splash in your classroom or community:
  • Participate in the National DNA Day reddit Series featuring scientists and leadership from the NIH and other organizations. The "Ask Me Anything" series is from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. ET weekdays, all week long. Of special note: NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins is featured on Friday, April 20!

  • Watch live as DNA Day speaker Dr. Olivier Noel, the founder and CEO of DNAsimple, discusses his personal and professional journey and provides insights into start-up companies in science. Yes, the same Dr. Noel who appeared on television's Shark Tank! Wednesday, April 25 from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. ET on Facebook or the DNA Day Website, or on GenomeTV.

  • Looking for a DNA Day event nearby? Check out the National DNA Day Event Map for events in your area.

  • There is also a Thunderclap (kind of like an online flash mob) you can join on the National DNA Day Home Page.
15 Ways Genomics Has Transformed Our World

April 25 marks the 15th anniversary of the completion of the Human Genome Project (HGP). To commemorate this milestone and the genomic advances that have been made or directly influenced by the HGP, the National Human Genome Research Institute has been unveiling the '15 for 15' Celebration one day at a time revealing 15 different ways genomics has transformed our world.

Three more to go, but a dozen worth reviewing right now.

Here is a set of resources for the last-minute DNA Day classroom that is guaranteed to hold your student's attention and add a valuable lesson to your curriculum. "Cell Size and Scale" is a stunning way to reference the physical size of commonly named parts of the cell. "The Animated Genome" presents just about everything you need to know about DNA and genetics in a short, spellbinding animation.

Use one, or both, to join in the celebration of the 2018 National DNA Day.
