Human skin color is variable around the world and influenced by the combined effect of many genes and the environment. Use our new interactive to adjust the activity of several genes and watch as skin becomes darker or lighter as individual genes affect skin color.


National DNA Day is just around the corner and genetic/genomic topics and questions are being sought from you and your students for a Twitter Chat to be hosted by NHGRI's @DNADay Twitter page. Groups involved in genetics/genomics research and education will be answering questions about career paths, technology advancement, and education.
