What Controls Variation In Human Skin Color?
Research has shown our skin color is influenced by the combined effects of the environment and of many genes (a polygenic trait). This new interactive allows students to manipulate genes and experience the resulting changes in skin color. Watch in real time as our model's face becomes darker or lighter as students adjust sliding bars to increase or decrease the effects of three genes known to affect skin color.
