Saturday, March 8, 2014

Suffolk County Community College Eastern Campus

Riverhead, NY

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Followed by an afternoon Training to become an Alewife (River Herring) Monitor.

Peconic Community Water Quality Workshop

This community event will focus on bringing local citizens and community leaders together to discuss past and future water quality projects in East End neighborhoods. PEP aims to support the development of initiatives like these. We will hear from civic leaders and have work groups to discuss topics such as: beach cleanups, native plantings, and invasive species removals.

We will be following the workshop with an Alewife Volunteer Program in downtown Riverhead, focused on training volunteers to count these amazing fish during their migration.

Please join us at this exciting event to learn and be inspired to take action towards protecting and restoring the Peconic  Estuary in your neighborhood. Hope to see you there!

Registration necessary, limited seats available. Please contact Jennifer Skilbred at (631) 765-6450 x212 or visit our website at www.PeconicEstuary.org, for more information.
