Hello Fellow Music Lover!

Happy Memorial Day! I hope this finds you well and with some great summer fun planned! Before that calendar fills up with beach trips,
bar-b-que's, Shakespeare in the Park and roof top parties, I want to make sure to invite you to take in some great new music with Metropolis Opera Project. We have three upcoming events that we are thrilled to share with you!

First up is WORDS WORTH SINGING, an evening of the music of Kristin Hevner Wyatt featuring librettists Royce Vavrek and David Caudle. This co-presentation with Medicine Show Theatre will feature highlights from developing new operas and a talkback with playwright David Caudle and composer Kristin Hevner Wyatt. WORDS WORTH SINGING will be presented Sunday, June 12th at 8pm at Medicine Show Theatre on 52nd and 11th. Admission is only $5!

We're also extremely excited to present the NYC premiere of BILLY BLYTHE, a new folk opera by Bonnie Montgomery and Britt Barber based on the teen years of President Clinton. This developmental reading presentation, with music direction by Jonathan Rose, will feature Jessica Bowers, Alex Krasser, Bryan Putnam, Jason Thoms and more M.O.P. favorites. BILLY BLYTHE will be presented Sunday June 19th at 8pm and Monday June 20th at 7pm at Medicine Show Theatre, 52nd and 11th.  Admission is only $5!

July 18th marks our Second Annual New Music Party, THE M.O.P. BUCKET! This is one of our favorite events and the line-up of composers this year will knock your socks off. If you missed out on THE M.O.P. BUCKET last year, this is a one night only NEW MUSIC PARTY. We've invited a dozen of the hippest composers around to present 15 minutes each of new music. This event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Drink Specials, Door Prizes and lots of fun to be expected!

Thank you for your continued interest and support! We hope to see you at one or all of our upcoming events. If you're out of town this summer fear not, we have a slew of exciting stuff around the corner. This fall we will be presenting a world premiere full length opera electronica, ONE HOT KITCHEN, by Kristin Hevner Wyatt, Daniel Wyatt and David Caudle. We are thrilled to announce that Professor Norm Johnson of Ithaca College will be directing this exciting new work.

Have a fantastic summer and see you soon!

Sincerely,

Zachary James

About Us
Metropolis Opera Project is dedicated to developing and presenting new opera in an intimate setting, focusing on works by American composers. By carefully selecting works with relevance to our modern culture, Metropolis Opera Project reaches out to an audience demographic with little previous exposure to opera, creating the opportunity to redefine opera and break down the stereotypes about the genre. With the philosophy that opera is simply telling a story with words and music, Metropolis Opera Project strives to break down the wall between theatre and opera. Metropolis Opera Project commissions composers to collaborate on new works, encouraging styles of music rarely used in an operatic setting, including electronica, rap, hip-hop, folk and rock.
