Chicago Summer Opera Needs Your Help

This is the 4th year that ELC will host Chicago Summer Opera. CSO's mission is to 'offer affordable Operatic training to developing singers, while providing accessible, high quality performances to the community'.  The program is run by our own talented Music Director, Codrut Birsan and there will be free performances at ELC at the end of each session.

Chicago Summer Opera is looking for families to host a student for one or both of the sessions. The sessions run May 23 - June 19, 2016 and June 20 - July 17, 2016. The students will need a bedroom, as well as access to a bathroom and kitchen (for breakfast & lunch preparation).

Please contact Codrut at [email protected] or 920-257-7491 if you are interested in hosting a student.

Neil & Renee Hansen hosted a student in 2015, so please feel free to reach out to Neil or Renee for their perspective.

Gentle Exercise/Yoga
Interested in feeling more limber?  Have you sat around all winter long and now feel the need to get out and do a little stretching?  Join us on Thursday afternoons at 1pm in the Gathering Space for some gentle stretching, exercise and yoga.  This is geared to the 60+ plus crowd.  Along with doing some good for our bodies, the fellowship and laughter that takes place in the hour does our soul good too!  Have any questions?  Talk to Karen Castillo or call the church office.  See you all Thursday!

Out and Around The Neighborhood
On the heels of Sunday's sermon...

"United Flight 232"  is a theatrical adaptation of Laurence Gonzales'  "Flight 232" --a book that collects interviews and reminiscences of survivors of the real 1989 crash of the Chicago-bound DC-10 near Sioux City.  Amazingly, 184 of the 296 passengers and crew did not perish.  Performed by nine actors, this tale of "
compassion and grace " plays only through May 1 at the Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division.  For tickets, call 773-769-3832 or visit
