This weekend, we enter the season of Advent. It is a season of preparation, expectation and waiting. The word Advent means "coming", and so we wait for Jesus to come into our lives at Christmas.

The First Sunday of Advent always points us to the skies instead of the manger, beginning each new Church Year with predictions and promises of the Second Coming.

This week, Jesus tells us to "keep awake!" What do you think Jesus wants you to do while you are waiting for his return?  Over the next few weeks, you're invited to color Advent candles, wreaths, coloring sheets and posters in meditation and prayer of Jesus' arrival.

Check out what's happening at Edgebrook Lutheran  this Advent season...

Thank you for Giving!!
Over the last two weeks, ELC's Sunday School students and leaders have raised over $1300 to go to families and communities in need through ELCA Good Gifts! Through Candy Cane Lane,  ELC's Youth, parents and friends raised over $1000 towards next summer's mission trips!

You donated so much food and gift cards for the holiday food drive with New Hope Food Pantry that they're overflowing with good things to eat!!

Thank you for giving and serving in this way, and special thanks to the ELC community for embracing a spirit of generosity and God's abundance!!!

If you're still interested in collecting items for New Hope Food Pantry, please considering donating toiletries for adults and babies, plus diapers (size 1 and larger) and cream to prevent diaper rashes (cornstarch-based instead of talc). Thank you!

Toys for Tots
Toys are being collected again this year for Toys for Tots, in memory of Andrew Sikorski.  Every child deserves a new toy for Christmas! This is the goal of the Marine Corps annual Toys for Tots toy drive. This is the 18th year that we have collected toys in memory of Andrew Sikorski. Andrew was a young member of our church who died 19 years ago. He was also a member of scout troop 957 and his Eagle Scout project was working with the Toys for Tots toy drive.

Each year the requests from organizations increase making it more difficult for the Marine Corps to reach their goal! Please donate a NEW, unwrapped toy... especially for older boys and girls. NO stuffed animals, toy guns, knives, etc. Sports equipment, board games, and books make great gifts! As we count our many blessings please be generous and donate with a loving heart. Please leave your toy in the box in Fellowship Hall and the gathering space by December 10th.
