AGLA members and those interested in joining are invited to a community social on Friday, May 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Kora Restaurant in Crystal City.
At the social you'll be greeted in the lounge area by AGLA board member TJ Flavell. Members of several community organizations, including the Alexandria Gay and Lesbian Community Association, Arlington Gay & Lesbian Alliance, Equality Prince William, Fairfax Pride, Gay Digerati, and Go Go DC will be there. NoVA Gay and Lesbian Professionals is the host group. Name tags will be provided. No cover charge. Cash bar. Casual attire is fine.
Kora Restaurant features a blend of contemporary Italian food and modern elegance. It's conveniently located at 2250 Crystal Drive, within walking distance to the Crystal City Metro station (via the indoor Crystal City Underground). Free parking is located right around the corner on 23rd St. See the map.
Dining after the social is completely optional. AGLA members are being offered a 10 percent discount on dining. (When you arrive, simply ask TJ for a dining slip.) Instead of dining together as a large group, simply split up at individual tables. To ensure a dinner spot, reserve a table in your own name in advance at 571-431-7090. See a full menu here.
As community service, if you can, please bring along travel-sized unused soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. for A-SPAN (http://www.a-span.org), which provides life-sustaining services for Arlington's street homeless. Or clean out your cupboard of unused nonperishable food items for AFAC (http://www.afac.org), the community leader in providing and promoting dignified access to nutritious food for all Arlingtonians in need. The social will serve as a convenient collection point.
