Upcoming Forums
Dear Families,

As you are aware, the Division of Developmental Disabilities is committed to  a person-centered system. The system will be built on the concept that the person remains the primary focus and allows them positive control of their lives.

Between May and August, the Division of Developmental Disabilities held sixteen public forums for self-advocates, family members, provider agencies and others to discuss Rhode Island’s move towards a person-centered system. The forums were intended to solicit input into strategies for enhancing the system. We held these forums in conjunction with the Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities at Rhode Island College and received comments from approximately 150 people.

Two new forums have been set up to provide a summary of the comments and discuss next steps. The third forum will be held on Monday, October 2nd with a location and time to to be announced next week.
