Public Meeting Regarding Lincoln Yards Proposal
Hosted by Ald. Hopkins
Near North Montessori School Gymnasium
1434 W. Division Street
Wednesday, July 18th
6:00 p.m.

Alderman Hopkins (2nd) hosts a public meeting this Wednesday where Lincoln Yards developers will unveil their plans. This discussion is central to our Ward - this project, immediately adjacent to us, can generate a daytime population of 50,000+ and trigger critical issues including traffic, congestion, diminished open space, and increasing school population. Ald. Hopkins cautions parking is limited at the school lot on Bosworth, and at Holy Trinity Church across the street, so please plan to come early.

In another important development, General Iron has announced that it will be moving to a new location on the South Side of the city by 2020 and selling its 21.5 acres of land. Crain's Chicago Business and the Chicago Tribune reported the story.

The Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times have editorialized about our "traffic-choked" streets and the opportunity to create a sorely-neededl public park in the North Branch Corridor. I encourage everyone to attend this open, community-wide meeting.
Zoning Changes Rejected On Lakewood Avenue

In an earlier newsletter, we reviewed proposals for zoning changes along Lakewood Avenue . The City's Department of Planning and Development supported these changes to allow only residential development on these sites.

After listening to ward residents, it was clear that rezoning without a detailed plan from a developer caused many concerns. As a result, we will instruct any interested developer to submit a proposal before considering any zoning action.

As always, we rely on constituents to voice their concerns and fully participate in development discussions.
