Bake Sale Volunteers Needed

T his wonderful neighborhood event brings together over 600 students from the choirs at our NW Region elementary and middle schools as well as our own Ballard choirs. It offers parents a chance to see the musical pathways available to their students as they progress through school, and is a fun community event for all the students involved. We will need 2 people to staff the bake sale table and lots of bakers for this hungry crowd of kids. Sign Up Here to Help Out!

Choir Tour to Portland-  Payment  2 is due April 4th
Concert Choir and Advanced Chorale are headed to Portland! This educational performance tour will take place Friday, May 5th - Sunday, May 7th. We will leave after lunch on Friday. Students will only miss 5th and 6th periods and it will NOT interfere with Friday's AP tests. On our way down, we will participate in a choir exchange concert with the acclaimed Rogers High School Concert Choir in Puyallup. On Saturday, we'll have an in-depth clinic with Dr. Ethan Sperry, Director of Choral Activities at Portland State University. Dr. Sperry is truly one of the best in the field today and we are incredibly lucky to get to work with him! Also, that weekend, we'll perform at the beautiful Grotto, both outside in the Cliffside amphitheater and in the acoustically vivid chapel.  While in Portland, we'll stay at the Embassy Suites Hotel downtown, close to Powell's Books, Voodoo Donuts, downtown shopping and the riverfront. The hotel includes a full breakfast buffet each morning. Also included is a group dinner at Old Town Pizza and Saturday night and bowling at AMF Lanes. In addition, we'll have time to explore the Pearl District, Mississippi Street, and NE Alberta Street neighborhoods. A full itinerary will be released shortly.

We are also in need of chaperones to attend (at a reduced price). It would be great to meet some of the newer parents and have you participate!

Payment 2 of $150 is due April 4th Pay  online or by check made payable to BPA.  Students who have participated in fundraising activities, please see Student Account Balance Spreadsheet for individual student funds to be deducted from the payment. It is our hope that all students in Concert Choir and Advanced Chorale can attend.  Questions? Email Ms. Rowley.

EBMEA Choir Festival - Recap

Congratulations to Concert Choir, Advanced Chorale, and Treble Choir for their fabulous performances at the Elliott Bay Choir Festival, held at Garfield High School on Wednesday. The Ballard Choirs were praised for the musicality, vocal tone quality, challenging literature, and overall sound and appearance. All choirs received scores or Superior or Excellent across the board. Students had the opportunity to have clinics with Dr. Geoffrey Boers from UW, Sara Boos from the Northwest Girlchoir, and local conductor Dori Baunsgard. A huge thanks as well to our parent chaperones!

The Importance of Being Ernest
Auditions - Tuesday, April 4th

Auditions for the spring play will be held Tuesday, April 4th at 3:30 PM on the stage. Audition packets are available in the black box.
Play Synopsis:  The Importance of Being Earnest   is the most renowned of Oscar Wilde's comedies. It's the story of two bachelors, John 'Jack' Worthing and Algernon 'Algy' Moncrieff, who create alter egos named Ernest to escape their tiresome lives. They attempt to win the hearts of two women who, conveniently, claim to only love men called Ernest. The pair struggle to keep up with their own stories and become tangled in a tale of deception, disguise and misadventure. The elaborate plot ridicules Victorian sensibilities with some of the best loved, and indeed bizarre,  characters to be found on the modern stage.
