A Recap of The Hooley on Kamm's Corners™  

Thanks to all the vendors and guests who braved the cold and rain for the 7th Annual The Hooley on Kamm's Corners™ on 
May 14. Great food, live music, children's shows & activities, Irish dancers, pipes & drums, and more filled the street for this annual spring event.

Annual Town Meeting Set for Wednesday, June 22

Kamm's Corners Development Corporation's 39th Annual Town
 
Meeting returns to the auditorium of St. Joseph Academy at 3470 Rocky River Drive on Wednesday, June 22, at 7 p.m. Please join us for an informative evening.

The event is free of charge and parking is plentiful. On your way in, visit the display tables of local non-profit agencies to learn more about their programs. The evening's agenda includes updates on neighborhood initiatives such as the newly created Special Improvement District for Downtown Kamm's Corners. Councilman Marty Keane will provide news about city-related issues.

Several awards will be presented, including a Community Impact Award. Our always-popular "Spontaneous Raffle" will round out the evening.

A short reception will follow on the scenic "Scholars Porch," an outdoor, rooftop area overlooking the Cleveland Metroparks. Cookies from K&K Portage Market and beverages will be served there. We are grateful to Fairview Hospital for their sponsorship of this key community event. Please join us! 

Asphalt Cinema Returns Friday, June 17

Reserve the third Friday of June, July, and August for an evening of music, art, games, and prizes that ends under the stars with a family friendly movie -- all at Impett Park, 3207 West 153rd Street. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets! The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. It's free, thanks to our sponsors.

Kids are invited to try creative games of chance and skill for small prizes provided by local merchants and organizations. In addition to games, there will be art activities and everyone will be invited to dance and sing with the help of a DJ, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Draw characters from the featured film and win a prize! The artistic portion of Asphalt Cinema is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.


In June, more than 100 bike helmets will be given away, thanks to a grant from the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Bike Cleveland will assist with the fitting and distribution of these helmets. In August, a City of Cleveland Safety Fair will take place in the area adjacent to the parking lot from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Beverages and popcorn are available for purchase from West Denison Baseball League. The movie and the fun activities are FREE of charge thanks to our Asphalt Cinema sponsor, Fairview Hospital! The featured films are:

Senior Day Is Friday, May 27

The Cleveland Department or Aging presents Senior Day on Friday, May 27, at Cleveland Public Hall, 500 Lakeside Avenue. An information fair starts at 10 a.m. with a program at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. Entertainment begins at 12:30 p.m. The event is free of charge.

Ward 17's Senior of the Year for 2016 is Sister Rita Petruziello, CSJ. Councilman Marty Keane will be honoring Sister Rita, who is the retired executive director of River's Edge, 3430 Rocky River Drive, and remains a proud resident of Ward 17. "Her passion and commitment is an inspiration to anyone who has ever crossed her path," declared Councilman Keane. He also said he hopes to see all of Ward 17's seniors at Public Hall on May 27.

Graduates Walk with Roses on May 31

It's almost time for the treasured West Park tradition -- the St. Joseph Academy (SJA) Walk of the Roses. This is an honored tradition in which the graduating class marches down Rocky River Drive from SJA to Our Lady of Angels Church (OLA), with each white-robed graduate carrying a dozen red roses.

Please join the many family, friends, alumnae, and neighbors who will line the drive to cheer the proud class of 2016 on Tuesday, May 31, starting at 6:15 p.m. The walk begins at the academy, 3470 Rocky River Drive, and moves south to OLA.

Did you see the Crooked River Quartet at The Hooley on Kamm's Corners™? Part of the Barbershop Harmony Society's Cleveland West Suburban Chapter of Tower City Chorus, the group presents "You'll Never Go Wrong with a Song" on Saturday, May 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Magnificat Performing Arts Theater. The Great Lakes Expo of 1936 will be discussed by local historian Rebecca McFarland on Tuesday, May 24, at 7 p.m. at the Cretan Party Center, 3853 West 168th Street. See details here

Visit Mike's Diecast & Collectibles, one of only a few remaining local hobby shops. It's here in Kamm's Corners at 4153 Rocky River Drive. Returning for its third year, AMP Fest is an infusion of local cuisine, spirits, and music to benefit The Friends of the Cleveland Public Library. Join the fun on Thursday, June 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. at AMP 150, 4277 West 150th Street, in the Cleveland Marriott Hotel. Click here to purchase tickets.

St. Mark Catholic School, 15724 Montrose Avenue, is holding its 15th Annual Run for the Arts on Saturday, June 4, at 8:30 a.m. See race details and register here. An art festival takes place after the race, featuring crafts to make, raffles, and performances by the students. 

On June 4, the 4th annual Pups in the Park takes place at West Park Station, 17015 Lorain Avenue, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for a buffet dinner fundraiser to benefit The Rescue Inn. It is sponsored by Style Mutt Dog Boutique & Daycare, 3525 Warren Road.
