WHAT DO WE DO WITH OUR WM CONTAINERS?
Waste Management Customers who have paid past December 31, 2014 will receive a refund of any over payment by WM individually. Please call WM at 800.633.9096 to discuss your account. WM has asked if residents could put their WM trash and recycle containers close to the roadside and they would pick up as soon as they could and between the days of January 2 - January 15, 2015.
We will let you know if anything changes.

QUESTION: When and how do I sign up for a new account with Republic?
ANSWER : Every resident of Ocean Pines that would like to continue their trash and recycle collection services will need to sign up for a new account with Republic Services by December 19, 2014 to be included in the first collection. Residents can enroll by one of the following ways:
1. Call Republic Customer Service at 302-658-4097
2. Republic Services representatives will be at the Ocean Pines Community Center to assist residents to sign up for Republic Collection Services. Takes just minutes to enroll. Bring in your from completed to save time.

QUESTION: What is the cost for the service?
ANSWER : The monthly cost is $15.57. You will be billed quarterly (3 months) for $46.71 or yearly for $186.84.**NEW INFO..save 2% when you pay an annual contract up front.
QUESTION: How many times per week will Republic pick up my trash?
ANSWER : Trash pick-up service is twice per week starting January 2, 2015.
**NEW INFO...The contract begins on January 1, 2015 and since this is a holiday all collection is pushed up one day. Trash and Recycle Curbside pick up will begin on the North Side Friday, January 2, 2015 and pick up will begin on the South Side Saturday, January 3, 2015.
Schedule resumes back to Monday/Thursdays for North and Tuesdays/Fridays for South with Recycle pick up each week on your second collection day which will be Thursdays for North and Fridays for South or ask a neighbor. (:
QUESTION: Will my trash collection day change with Republic?
ANSWER : Republic will use the same collection schedule as the previous vendor so put your trash out on the same days (Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday).
QUESTION: Will Republic provide me with a trash can?
ANSWER : Residents have the option to rent a 95 gallon trash cart for $1.20/month. However, a Recycling Container will be provided FREE of charge. In addition, you may put your household garbage at the curb in personal trash cans or trash bags and they will pick it up. For the Recycling container, Republic Service will provide a 65 gallon blue container with a gray lid identified for your single stream recycling.
QUESTION: When will Republic pick up my recycling:
ANSWER : Recycling service will be once a week and will begin the week of January 2, 2015. Your collection day will be the second day of your trash collection. If you are Monday and Thursday trash pick-up, your recycle will be picked up on Thursday. If you have trash pick-up on Tuesdays and Friday, your recycle will be picked up on Friday.
QUESTION: What is single stream recycling?
ANSWER : Single Stream Recycling means residents put all their recyclables into a single container.
QUESTION: What are the rules regarding acceptable material and how much garbage I can put out each collection day?
ANSWER :
Acceptable: There is no limit to the amount of "household" trash a customer may put out for collection.
Acceptable: Republic will collect up to a maximum of four bags of leaves and/or yard cuttings per collection, as well as, brush, tree limbs and shrub trimmings provided that they are cut into 4-foot lengths and tied into bundles weighing not more than 50 pounds.
Acceptable: Republic will also collect Christmas trees placed in one piece at the normal collection place for a two-week period following the Holiday.
Unacceptable: Household trash shall not include furniture, hazardous materials, mechanical equipment or machinery, including automotive machinery, sand, solid or other mineral matter and any other items or matters not resulting from ordinary household operations.
