         Newsletter #4
May/June/July
    2014

Hi ,
We are so grateful for your heartfelt interest in what God is doing in Sweden.  This update is going out to over 450 people on 5 continents--people like you who are deeply concerned over the spiritual condition of Sweden--people who will pray for revival and sacrificially give to support.  We appreciate you more than you can imagine.
God has called us to Sweden to work with New Life Church Stockholm and Converge Worldwide in the planting of 20-30 churches--and the vision is being expanded by God even as we write to you.  God's hand is on the nation of Sweden--and we believe an awakening is on the way.
And YOU are a vital part of this ministry!  In this update, we'd like to tell you about some of the ways God has been working in our lives as we journey towards the land to which God is calling us.
Together we can make a difference!  We ARE a team working as ONE!
With grateful hearts,  Jim and Lynn

The Day God Ate Lunch at Wendy's

.....and How it Changed our Lives

In the past 11 months we have driven over 15,000 miles sharing the need in Sweden and why it is so important for churches to be planted and revival to be sought.  We have sold our home and given away most of our "stuff" and have been seeking those individuals and churches whom God has called to partner with us.

But, sometimes we find ourselves in unusual situations.

We came to Minneapolis once again last month to connect with churches.  After a day of organizational meetings, we checked out of our hotel not quite sure where we would spend that night.  The missionary funding process is always a challenge--especially when you're basically homeless.

We spent the morning calling churches who had mission houses only to hear each lead become a dead end.  We finally found a church that had space available for five weeks, but for some reason we only felt led to commit to one.  This seemed like God's perfect answer--so why did He want to limit our stay?

That noon, we stopped at Wendy's for a value lunch and were just starting to eat when Lynn felt a strange compulsion to leave her warm meal, get up and speak to a woman standing in the middle of a long line.  What would she say to a stranger?

"Where do you buy your groceries?" was how she began.  The woman was helpful, but then she asked, "You're not from around here.  What do you do?"

Lynn responded, "We're missionaries to Sweden."  And with that the woman threw her arms up in air excitedly and said, "My neighbors across the street were missionaries to Sweden!"

Now to find a missionary to Sweden is right up there with the proverbial needle in the haystack--there simply aren't very many.  The woman went home and told her neighbors about us.  They called and invited us out to dinner that night and back to their home for ice cream.  And the next day, they asked us to live with them for most of the summer!

That is how we came to meet and live with Ron  and Carol Soderquist, 42 year veteran missionaries with CRU (Campus Crusade).  They have Swedish heritage, speak Swedish, and ministered in Sweden for a number of years.  They are wonderful, gracious hosts who treat us like family.

The day God ate lunch with us at Wendy's reminded us that often He leads us from Point A to Point B via a series of steps.  And that it is entirely possible to miss out on a blessing if we don't follow the promptings of God's Spirit exactly as He instructs.  This is a good reminder for us all as we enjoy our chocolate Frosties.

How You Can Pray

Prayer Requests:  We could share many personal requests for which we need prayer, but so many of you are already praying faithfully for us to get to Sweden and begin the work God has for us there.  We really appreciate your continued prayers for us.

In this update, we specifically request that you pray for our dear friend, John van Dinther.  John is the lead pastor of New Life Church Stockholm, a man with a deep heart for Sweden, who longs to see revival, who is fully committed to planting churches that will reach his nation.  John is a pastor who is Word based and Spirit led.

Would you pray for John and his wife, Ineke--that God would bless them in ways they don't expect?  That God would continue to give them wisdom and vision as they lead New Life?  That God would fill them with health and vigor and
renew their souls even as their pour their lives into others?
