The mission of The Arc of Massachusetts is to enhance the lives of individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.  We accomplish this through advocacy of supports and services based in the community.

The Arc Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council invite you to our March 9 Legislative Reception at the Great Hall of the State House, at 10:30 with program beginning at 11 am.  Our theme- Promises to Keep...Miles to Go.  Senator John Keenan and Representative Sean Garballey will be recognized.  You can register here!

 

On January 23, over 220 people attended a Southeast Mass. legislative breakfast hosted by The Arc of the South Shore and The Brockton Area Arc, Grow Associates and Friendship House.  Daryl Cook-Ivan, CEO of The Arc of the South Shore emceed the event and was joined by colleagues from each partner organization and family members.

Powerful stories from families underlined the need for supports such as employment, early intervention (EI), family support and respite, housing.   Leo Sarkissian provided an overview of key disability budget line items and responded to questions while EI consortium advocate, Mary Ann Mulligan gave the audience an overview of the evolution of EI and its impact.

were able to stay to share their personal support and that of the South Shore/Metro Brockton delegation.  Attending were Representatives Lou Kafka, Geoff Diehl, Mike Brady, James Murphy, Bruce Ayers, Michele DuBois, Walter Timilty and an aide to Garrett Bradley.   Also attending was Congressman Bill Keating's district director, Michael Jackman.

Pat Pakos is a well-known as a presenter of workshops, which help individuals and families plan significant transitions from school and home to community living. Pat has worked as a consultant to school systems and has been employed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as an Inclusion Facilitator.
