Help write the music ... and match the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation  challenge grant:

 

Composer Benjamin Pesetsky, Conservatory of Music class of 2011, has started composing "Sinfonia" to help us raise funds to complete the Mellon match.  You may listen to the first three minutes as performed by the Conservatory Orchestra on the new GIVING page:

We invite you to help Ben complete the "Sinfonia" by contributing at one of the levels below:

  1. A movement - $10,000 each
  2. A phrase -  $5,000 each
  3. A measure - $ 1,000 each
  4. A note - $100 each
  5. A rest - $ 50 each

All contributions will be used toward matching the challenge grant.

Historic Piano Celebration

The Bard College Conservatory of Music celebrates the gift of seven historic pianos with a special concert with pianists Peter Serkin and Julia Hsu, with commentary by President Leon Botstein. Reception to follow. Seating limited.

The Haydn Project- Opening Concert

A series of free noontime concerts on September 22, November 10, November 24, featuring string quartets, piano trios, part songs, and other works by Joseph Haydn performed by students and members of the faculty of the Conservatory. Complete listing of performers will be posted as available at the Conservatory website www. bard.edu/conservatory. 

 

All concerts take place on Tuesdays at noon in the Performance Space of the László Z. Bitó '60 Conservatory Building. A special lecture by Peter Laki on the early works of Haydn is scheduled on Wednesday, October 21 at 5 p.m.

Natalie Merchant

In a benefit concert for Bard Conservatory of Music, singer-songwriter Natalie Merchant performs with her band and the Conservatory Orchestra, conducted by James Bagwell. Over the course of her career, Merchant has earned a distinguished place among America's most respected recording artists - an emotional and earnest songwriter, whose subtle performances and distinct voice blend in a powerful, moving form. On September 15th, Merchant will release Paradise is There: The New Tigerlily Recordings, featuring many of the songs that will be heard in this concert with lush string arrangements.
