As you may know, our founder Eva Kor underwent hip replacement surgery this past February. She has recovered well, and on Monday will be undergoing a second surgery to replace her other hip.
At CANDLES, we often rely on Eva's knowledge, experience, and tireless energy as we work to preserve the history of the Mengele Twins and spread Eva's message of forgiveness. This surgery requires time to recover, however, and Eva will not be available to speak at the museum or meet with visitors during her recovery. We hope she will be able to return to CANDLES in mid to late June.
We have other docents available to meet with you over the next few weeks, including Michael Kor, Eva's husband and a Holocaust survivor, and Walter Sommers, who survived the Kristallnacht attacks in Germany before escaping with his family to the United States. Please check our website, www.candlesholocaustmuseum.org, for updates on Eva's recovery and for other docent availability.
In lieu of get well flowers, Eva has asked that you please consider making a donation to CANDLES in her honor. If you would like to send your regards to Eva, please direct them to ben@candlesholocaustmuseum.org, as Eva will not be checking email regularly during this time.
Thank you for your support, and please join us in wishing Eva a fast and full recovery.
Sincerely,
Ben Madeska
Museum Coordinator
