Last night at 11:30pm, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the arm in a drive-by shooting while leaving a high-rise near Clarendon Park. The victim walked to Weiss Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

I have been in contact with the board president of the high-rise association and he will be following up with the family of the victim. Commander John Kenny confirmed that an ongoing investigation is in process, but the shooter has not yet been identified. The police are using footage from area surveillance cameras to help identify the shooter's vehicle and license plate number. The management of the high-rise is also cooperating with the police during their investigation.

If you suspect you hear gunfire, please call 911 immediately. If you are not sure if you are hearing fireworks or gunfire, you should still call 911.
