Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week - November 19-25
Ontario has designated the week of November 19-25, 2017 as the Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week to help promote safe schools and a positive learning environment. During this week, Ontario students, school staff and parents are encouraged to learn more about bullying and its effect on student learning and well-being. Schools are encouraged to use this opportunity to explain the different forms bullying can take, and launch initiatives that heighten awareness of bullying and its impact on the school community. Check out Bully B.R.A.V.E. (
www.bullybrave.com
) for a potential Ministry-approved partner for your school.
Schools have been asked to create artwork posters that focus on a relevant theme. Each school can submit artwork for possible use on the ministry website or for future Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week materials. The ministry also encourages schools to send student artwork and success stories about their activities during this week. For more information, please consult the Ministry’s website (

Trustee Wards - Upcoming Boundary Adjustments to Zones 7 and 11 - 2018 (Please note this information has been corrected)
We are proposing changes to the electoral zone boundaries of Zones 7 and 11. The purpose of these changes is to better distribute the number of electors in each zone. The changes would decrease the size of Zone 7 and increase the size of Zone 11. Five schools which are currently in Zone 7 would become part of Zone 11. These schools are:
Blossom Park Public School
Dunlop Public School
Robert Bateman Public School
Roberta Bondar Public School
Sawmill Creek Elementary School
More detailed information is on our
website
. If you have comments or questions on these changes please send them to
[email protected]

Math Facts -
Talking With Children
When adults engage with children as they solve mathematics-related problems, the dialogue that takes place helps children to develop greater understanding of mathematical concepts. Adults can help children to shape and articulate their thoughts, reinforce oral language, and develop mathematical vocabulary, by listening and responding to what children say. When they provide ample time for children to initiative conversation and respond to questions, adults demonstrate respect for the children’s thoughts, opinions, ideas and wonderings. Learn more about effective ways in which parents can support children’s mathematics learning
