Fantastic Opportunity!
A Fantastic Summer Opportunity for Science, Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher
 
Middle Level and High School science, health, and family and consumer science teachers have an opportunity to provide inquiry-based lessons related to these outbreaks and recalls. The lessons can be found in the curriculum  Science and Our Food Supply developed jointly by FDA and NSTA. And, in order to prepare teachers to use these lessons, FDA provides a free multidimensional professional development program that will take place July 17 - 24, 2016 in Washington, DC. Included in the program is transportation to and from Washington and all housing and meal expenses? For more information .

Ohio FCCLA Endowment Scholarhips Deadline
Who will be the 2016 Ohio FCCLA Endowment Scholarship recipients?   It could be you! The application deadline is March 1, 2016, available at www.ohiofcclaendowment.com.

Patricipant Change Form and Cancellation Form
Any participant changes for regional competitions will be completed using the Participant Change Form. The participant change form is to be completed and turned in at regional competitions to the event lead before participants compete. Additional forms will be available at event locations.  Any Event cancellations should be made using the cancellation link posted on the Ohio FCCLA website.
State Qualifiers
State Qualifiers will not be announced until 7 days after the conclusion of the last event.

SEC & REC Application and Interview Training

State and Regional Executive Council applications, handbooks and calendars have been posted to the Ohio FCCLA Website.   All applications due March 25, 2016.
 
There will be an interview training held for all candidates interested in running for Regional or State Executive Council on:
  • March 19, 2016,10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
  • Ohio FFA Center  
  • Registration Fee for this event is $25.00

Please complete the registration form and submit a check for $25.00 to Ohio FCCLA, 25 South Front Street, MS #611, Columbus, OH 43215. 

 

This training is not required but is recommended for all State Executive Council Candidates.

FCCLA You've Got Talent Auditions

This year the FCCLA "You've got talent" competition will be accepting additional submissions of talent for this year's competition. Two additional talents will be added to the four talents that have already been identified at this year's Fall Leadership Conferences.
Auditions for these two spots will be held through online video submissions. These videos are to be no more than 5 minutes in length and should be submitted to [email protected] by March 1, 2016. The two talents chosen to perform as part of the "You've Got Talent" competition will be notified by April 1, 2016.
This training is not required but is recommended for all State Executive Council Candidates.

State Executive Council Interviews will be held at Columbus Culinary April 9, 2016.  Applicants will receive a letter via email by April 1, 2016 with interview details and specific interview times.

Regional Executive Council will receive a letter via email with the election information sent to them by April 1, 2016.

Power of One Deadline
Power of One is to be evaluated on the local level. Chapter Advisers must enter all students who have completed their Power of One into the National Affiliation system by March 1, 2016.  Students who have been registered through state and national systems for Power of One will receive recognition at State Leadership Conferences.  Members must be present to receive recognition.
Spirit of Advising
The Spirit of Advising award is awarded to a chapter adviser who demonstrates outstanding leadership and professionalism. This adviser educates their schools and communities on the importance of Family and Consumer Sciences education and FCCLA. Nomination forms can be found on the Ohio FCCLA website.   Deadline for submission is March 15, 2016 to [email protected]
State Leadership Conference
The 2016 State Leadership Conferences provides  all students  the unique opportunities to receive leadership development and learn more about the FCCLA organization through interactive workshops, a service learning project and engaging sessions.   Conference is open for all students to attend, not just students who are competing.  If you do not currently have an affiliated  FCCLA chapter, but are interested in learning more about FCCLA, contact the state office to find out how you can attend to learn more about the FCCLA organization.

Chapter Workshop Presentation Application
Ohio FCCLA State Leadership Conference planning committee invites chapter members to submit proposals for interactive workshops.  The workshops are scheduled for April 28, 2016, at the Ohio Expo Center.  All workshops are to be presented by chapters and are 45 minutes in length.  Workshop proposals send to Kelly Jung at [email protected] by March 15, 2016

Meals of Hope
The Ohio FCCLA State Association is proud to announce that we will again be partnering with Meals of Hope to host a meal packing event at the 2016 State Conference in Columbus, OH on April 28, 2016.  Our goal is to pack 70,000 meals for families experiencing hunger in the state of Ohio.  We need YOU to make this goal a reality!

Any school that raises funds for this project and assists in the packing event will be recognized on the conference stage during the first session of conference.
Adviser National Leadership Grant
(Sponsored by Ohio FCCLA Alumni and Associates)

Description of Grant:

  • For advisers that receive little or no funding through their local school district to attend
  • Only for advisers who will accompany National Competitors to National Leadership Conference
  • Two Grants will be awarded
  • Amount of Grants TBD by A&A Officer team dependent upon funds available after State Leadership Conference
Grant Amount:
  • The amount of the Adviser Sponsorship Grant will be set by the A&A Treasurer and President based on funds available.
  • All checks will be sent to the school and made out in the Chapter's name.
Requirements:
  • Must have a student or students that are FCCLA National Career Development Event competitors.
  • Complete the Grant Application. (Area provided below for explanation)
  • Letter from school treasurer or administrator explaining what funds have been provided by the school must be sent with the application.  (Donations from outside sources, other than your school, will NOT be counted against you. Also, know that if your school/chapter is providing partial funding you are still eligible to receive the grant.)

The grant information MUST BE postmarked by  May 6, 2016.
