Your Jersey Village News & Updates
A lot has been going on in Jersey Village over the past few weeks, and we wanted to take a moment to get you caught up to speed.
Major Projects Moving Forward
During the City Council meeting on May 14, the City Council approved the next steps for several major projects.

The Council formally authorized Brooks and Sparks to begin the design work on the golf course berm. The design process should take a few months, and construction should be completed in early 2019.

The Council also authorized a contract with PGAL to begin the design of a new clubhouse with conference space for Jersey Meadow Golf Course. This project will be paid for by utilizing Hotel Occupancy Tax funds. Design work is expected to take approximately 6 months.

Work on the dog park, which will be located at the retention pond, has begun. The waterline has been installed, and the rest of the site amenities have been ordered. The fencing will be installed shortly, and the dog park will be open in July.

Construction on the splash pad started this week. The splash pad should be completed and open to the public by mid-June.
Jersey Village Receives Recognition for Transparency Efforts from Texas Comptroller
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced the City of Jersey Village is the latest local government to achieve specific transparency goals related to traditional finances, public pensions, debt obligations, and economic development through the Comptroller’s Transparency Stars program.

Transparency Stars recognizes local governments that provide easy online access to important financial data.

“Jersey Village should be congratulated for its ongoing commitment to greater public trust. This effort achieves the goals set by our Transparency Stars program,” Hegar said. “Public pension transparency is increasingly important to Texas taxpayers. With this achievement, Jersey Village has shown itself to be a leader in responsible fiscal management and has taken an important step toward improving access to essential information.”

Jersey Village is one of only 11 cities around Texas that has received 4 or more Transparency Stars from the Texas Comptroller.

Did You Know?
Did you know that the detention pond by Jersey Meadow Golf Course used to be a part of the golf course? That's right! The detention pond used to be another 9 holes of the golf course.

The detention basin holds 114 million gallons of storm water. It has a walking path over a mile in length around it. Soon the dog park will be located there too.

This project was started in June 2012 and completed in 2014 and was a partnership between the Harris County Flood Control District and the City of Jersey Village.

In December 2017 the West Houston Association, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing innovative ideas to the Houston area, awarded the project the Sustainability Stars award in the following three categories:

• Investigation Star - Recognizes project sponsors who study or evaluate the use of sustainability elements in their project prior to any project implementation activities.
• Investment Star - Recognizes project sponsors who include sustainability elements in the design of their project.
• Integration Star - Recognizes project sponsors who include sustainability elements in a constructed project.
