Upper Kirby Construction
Bissonnet Work Underway
Westheimer Storm Drainage and Street Reconstruction:

Pavement is now complete on Westheimer between Kirby and St. John's School and the left turn bay has been restored at the Kirby/Westheimer intersection. Crews have been working over the past week on demolition and pavement preparation between Buffalo Speedway and St. John's school on the south side of the street. Crews have also been working on back-of-curb excavation and have been laying conduit for pedestrian lighting and irrigation for new plantings and street trees. Crosswalk work has also been ongoing and will continue into next week.

Over the next week, work will continue on sub-grade preparation for new concrete between Buffalo Speedway and St. John's and crews will begin preparation for intersection work on the south side of the Buffalo Speedway/Westheimer intersection. Back-of-curb improvements will continue as well.

Bissonnet Storm Drainage  and Street Reconstruction:

Work on Bissonnet between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway continued this week with demolition and pavement efforts through about 400 feet of roadway just east of Buffalo Speedway. Crews have mostly completed work along the outside lanes and have shifted traffic onto the new pavement to begin work on the inside lanes. Work this week has focused on preparation for new pavement and driveway modification and installation. Crews are also working to restore sidewalks and install pedestrian lighting conduit in tandem with roadway improvements.

The contractor will also be pursuing approval from the City of Houston to work concurrently on the south side of the roadway between Kirby and Wakeforest. Due to the preservation of existing medians on this project, traffic transitions must take place at existing median openings. In many cases, a longer construction zone is less disruptive than an awkward transition from one side of the road to the other through these openings. Look for further updates as work sequencing is finalized.
